Kid throws 80-90 pitches at close to max effort in a game, no one says “boo”. Same kid throws 8-10 at max effort with a ball 1 ounce heavier than normal, people think he’s putting his career in jeopardy. Strange.

In the last two weeks, I’ve seen a ton of high level D1 baseball. If you want to play at that level, you should be able to do one of three things: Throw ⛽️, hit 💣, or be an elite defender. I don’t see too many other options.

This is how you actually learn to hit. This should happen way more often. I’ve never seen a game with a guy throwing 55 MPH down the middle from 45 feet. If you don’t fail in training, your training sucks.
Today’s hitting: random 2 machine drill, which consists of 4 seam FBs and breaking balls.
What is your failure rate during training? For this being a “game of failure,” I don’t ever see mis-hits on hitting twitter, or whiffs..why?

Pitchers that can locate in the bullpen but not in the game don’t have command issues. It isn’t mechanical. It’s a focus issue, stress issue, and/or anxiety issue. Address the brain first.

Had all of our bats compression tested today. We didn’t have to, but there had been some finger pointing. Guess what? 100% of them were perfectly legal. Some are actually underperforming. I guess our guys are just strong and can hit.

Fatigue is probably the biggest reason for injuries. Fatigue comes from over training and over use. It comes being undernourished, under hydrated, sleep deprived. It also comes from mental and emotional stress. We have a limited amount of resources. Take care of yourself

I’m still amazed that so many “baseball guys” think MLB pitchers have pinpoint command. They don’t. MLB average is between 41-42% in the strike zone. They’re within 6” of their target about 26% of the time. Some are purposeful misses, but no one just paints the black at will

I couldn't be happier for this guy. He showed up throwing 77-78. Took a red-shirt year and dove into real lifting and velo development. Two years later, 87-89, touch 91 and earned a Division 1 scholarship.

This is a great story. Came to

throwing about 78. Hopped on a dedicated Velo program. Lifted like crazy. Left throwing 92 and has become a very good D1 pitcher. On top of that, 80 grade human being.
Aaron Rund secured the win and kept the Pirates off balance through two innings of work allowing no hits and recording three Ks
He worked a 93 mph fastball, an effective change and a big bender that fooled multiple hitters
