Clint Hurdle is a tremendous speaker, and a must listen/read for anyone looking to be a better coach/manager. Also, the idea of a guy named Hurdle talking about raising the bar is awesome right?

After 48 seasons in professional baseball, I've learned a few things about standards, leadership, and what it takes to build something special. In Colorado we made it to the World Series. In Pittsburgh, we snapped a 20-year losing streak. But here's the truth: Hard work doesn't guarantee success. However, not working hard WILL guarantee NOT having success. The game (and life) will humble you. But it's not about the setbacks. It's about the bounce backs. I'm just trying to be a simple person in a complex world. Sometimes that's all we can do.
