Had a college coach reach out to me this week asking how many @Shockhoops kids were coming to elite camp? .My response is simple . if you haven’t personally reached out to a kid . then don’t count on them being there. Generic elite camp invites are a thing of the past 👍🏽.

There should be more emphasis on recruiting WINNERS. go after kids who don’t just score flashy pts. but who also make plays needed to win! I’m seeing a lot of “scorers” getting face guarded or have “off” games. so they don’t add ANYTHING else to the game. 🤦🏽♂️.

Had a D1 coach call today to talk about kids . which is always cool . but she also tossed in that she “stole Texas” after watching some film of us . If I had a dollar for every coach/official / scout that asked me to draw it up . I’d be living the good life 😂😂.

Hoopers, don’t let twitter fool you. you don’t HAVE to have a trainer in the gym w you to get shots up! .Trainers help correct bad habits/ introduce new concepts and help w accountability. You’re game will grow or flop based on how much you work on your own in silence!!🤫.

I spend most of my time bragging on other's people's kids, today I'm gonna brag on my 7yr old. It's only Draven's 2nd season of hoop and he seems to be getting it! Had 3 games on Sat, played his butt off and made plays on both ends. I'm very proud of his growth. #futurehooper

2/2 .Focusing on pts at a young age, tells the kid that pts are all that matters. As the kid grows, they’ll let their pts dictate their energy. Shooting it good = playing hard. Shooting it bad = them in their feelings, bc you’ve taught them that pts are all that matter. Plz stop!.

I’m a numbers guy . and according to the numbers . @Shockhoops 2024 @LillyMahy is on track beat 2023 alums @CarleeCasteel23 and Alyssa McCarty. they each hit fifty 3-pointers last summer. Halfway through May …Lilly has hit 23 three pointers , while shooting 38% ! .👀

One of the hardest parts of recruiting . for club coaches :. Getting college coaches see the value in ALL the kids on the roster , not just the height or the points. Are you evaluating motor, IQ, leadership. Esp on really talented teams . where the pts are spread out.
