Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy last night. He also was the 9th overall selection in the MLB draft this spring. Young athletes: If someone tells you to "focus" on a single sport, they are doing you a disservice. Get out for multiple sports and compete your butt off.

Jerry Kill has New Mexico St. in a bowl game today. It's his 1st season there. NMSU is a coaches graveyard. That place has been killing careers for decades. It's remarkable that he has them in a bowl game today. Kudos Jerry Kill and staff.

Want to announce that my wife Kelley & I are buying the Trailside Bar in Darlington. We are opening up on July 1st. We will call it "Booby's." Booby has been my nickname since I was little. The bar is in the middle of main street and the ATV/UTV trail runs right by the side door!

Tough ending but there are better days ahead for these kids. Our seniors three years of varsity ends with a state runner up, 2 losses in the semis, 3 conference titles and a lot of life lessons. Great kids. Just wish we could've got the win today.

U of Illinois football has 1 bowl appearance in the last 7 years. They currently have 0 players from WI on their roster even though the states are connected. Each FBS program from a state that's connected to WI & also made a bowl last year happened to have WI kids on their roster

Here is your annual reminder that no one "wins" a scrimmage. Run your base stuff, rotate kids through, & coach kids up. Last year some people thought we didn't look good in the scrimmage. We went on to win our league, we went to the state semi's & we only lost to 1 team all year

We welcomed our 2nd child today. Clint Warren McGranahan weighed 7 lb 15 ounces and is happy and healthy. Mom is doing great! Life is good!

I have officially been named the varsity DC at Darlington. We are transitioning the defense this fall to an aggressive attacking 3-3. I am thankful for the opportunity and looking forward to this fall. Alignment, assignment, reads, pursuit, tackle, & create turnovers. Let's go!!

Reading the buyouts several of these coaches are getting and it's wild. I made roughly 10 cents per hour to coach through Week 9 and then received zero cents to coach 5 more games. I need a new agent.

Hard to put into words how much fun I had coaching tonight. Players effort was awesome. Our field is one of the best grass fields in the state (feels better than most turf fields). TD Club grilled out late tonight for the kids and coaches. It's hard to beat Friday night lights!

I have been coaching for 18 years and our parent group of the last few seasons has been far and away the best I have been around. Great parents have raised great kids.
Darlington parents outdid themselves this year! When you drive out of town to Camp Randall to support our Redbirds, make sure you check out the fantastic signage along the way! Thank you, parents, not just for the signs, but for all that you do to raise strong Redbirds!

I cringe when I hear younger HS players talk how good they were in youth football. It is similar to college ball when inevitably a few freshmen talk about how good they were in HS. No one in that room really cares. If you can really play, everyone will notice in camp. Show it!

We're moving to Darlington in June. This gets us close to my family. We have moved around over the last 10 years and it feels good to get our family settled in the 776 for the long haul. Brooklyn, Clint, and Hank are officially Redbirds and they get to grow up with their cousins.

The 2020 Redbird football season has ended. We ended up 4-2. I want to thank all of the players, parents, coaches, and alum for welcoming me back home this fall with open arms. I loved every minute of it.

Redbirds beat River Valley 34-21 tonight. Stat guy said we gave up 37 yards rushing total. And River Valley has some dogs. Our kids effort was awesome tonight. Pursuit was phenomenal. We are bringing the swagger back to that Redbird defense!!

Just finished painting the inside of the bar that I am buying this summer. Painting the ceiling was brutal. The building was built in 1900. I have always been a "process" guy. It is the same on and off of the field. What an awesome experience this has been! Booby's Bar 2020!

Our first born daughter Brooklyn Rose McGranahan turns 2 on 4/20. She was born at West Allis Memorial Hospital in 2016. She is the light of my life. She told me that for her birthday she wanted 3 things "a bawoon, cake and a hug." B, I love you more than anything in the world!

Last night an old guy in town was telling me stuff about my grandpa I never knew. Stuff from his time in the Korean War to his football days. Evidently, he was a stud RB in the T in the mid 40s. They were 1946 conference champs. It's cool that teams are still winning with the T!

Last night was good for Redbird football. Darlington secured at least a share of its 38th conference title. Denilo set the new school record for longest FG at 39 yards. Our focus and effort was good all night. Now it is Homecoming week. It is time to start prep work on Fennimore.

Reading old clinic notes when Jimbo spoke on red zone O. He said elite golfers practice putting & chipping everyday. In practice, all offenses look good vs. a scout D between the 20's. Inside of the 20's is what really matters! Defenses schemes and demeanor change inside the 20.

What a beautiful night. Sun was setting and guys were just flying around all over the field. I closed my eyes and just listened for a few plays. All of the communication pre-snap and post snap was great. Then a ton of hustle to get all 11 hats to the ball. Pure beauty!
