I have a buddy who I played D3 baseball with. He had very few looks out of high school, so decided to go to a D3 school that was giving him opportunity. Year 1: Rookie of the Year. Year 2: Conference Player of the Year. Year 4: National POY and drafted. Tell me again, why not D3?

Recruiting is time sensitive… sure I will wait and give you time to make your decision, but if you take too long you will be replaced. I have about 5-10 calls a day. If I find someone who wants it more than you, I’m going with them 🤷♂️ you are either with us, or against us.

I had a lesson from 5-6pm with a client and she had a hard time making the adjustment we were working on. At 9:45pm when I’m finishing up my night and getting ready to leave, that same athlete came back in to work out alone and get it right… that’s a special type of player 🙌

When you see a coach out at an event, find a way to leave an impression on them. Be the first to shake their hand, introduce yourself, and ask questions. Most of us coaches are willing to answer questions and give advice. We are human too!

I learn everyday as a coach. I learn about mechanics, new feels, psychology, philosophy, etc. If I’m going to ask players to get 1% better everyday, I need to do the same. I refuse to be outdated 🤷♂️

Stop asking your coach what’s wrong with your swing, and start evaluating pitch by pitch what your approach was. The fb take in a hitters count, or popping up the 2-0 CB is why you are out. Not because your swing is bad. Pitch selection and approach execution is more important.

Recruiting tip:
Get really good at showcase style bp. You get 8 pitches so have a script. Don’t go in with the intent to hit 8 bombs because you won’t. Go in with the script of showing you can execute different scenarios. 3 backside, 3 middle, 2 pull. Watch the offers flood in.

People do not understand what sports mean to athletes. The normal person views sport as a hobby. An athlete views sport as a way of life. There is more to a sport than just showing up to the game and playing. The normal person doesn’t see the failure, sacrifice, and resiliency.

Working on a mirror drill to build up reaction time and speed. One catcher will lead, and another will mirror their direction. This is a very competitive drill that tends to push your catchers at game speed.

Our brain recognizes patterns. That’s why we remember songs and tiktok dances. Timing in a swing works the same way. If you have a consistent timing mechanism, with rhythm, the brain will process the pattern of hitting. The load is your dance, be on time out front to the beat.

Can’t throw a ball SAFELY if your hips don’t work… A lot of shoulder and elbow pain can be linked to a lack of hip mobility. If my hips don’t clear, all the stress of a throw is placed on my arm… If my body moves efficiently, my arm goes for a ride stress free. Kinetic Chain 🧠

Sit in the outfield or away from the college coaches. One bad interaction can cost your child opportunities. If you did want to ask a recruiter questions, you can… but please do it before or after the game. We need to stay locked in during the game!
