How I will always remember Kel. A brother. A friend. A protector. A son. The laugh. The smile. The jokes. The strength. The knowledge. The stubbornness. The growth. The joy he brought to my family. I LOVE YOU KEL. We will never forget you.

A few days ago my Dad was playing Mill 1on1 at our house and tripped and fell. Real bad fall, hit his head hard and was unconscious. Been at UK hospital since. Vitals are good but had a skull fracture and some brain bleeding. If you are the praying type, please say a few 4 us 💙
Turned 41 years young today.
Got more energy and passion than I had when I started as a 19 year old coach.
Age is just a number!
Blessed and thankful for all my friends and family. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Just found this one. It was the day he graduated and was so proud. When I said we need a selfie he said “You always wanna take some pictures.” You are right Kel. And I’m glad I did. It’s the only thing helping right now. But makes it so hard when I see that smile of his. 💔😢💙💪🏽
RIP Kel! 💔💙 You never let Lil Mill win! Always pushing him. Making him tougher! Came to every one of his basketball games. A true BIG BROTHER! We love you and miss you so so much!

My Grandfather, James G. Bordas, just passed away.
95 years old.
WW2 Vet.
Golden Gloves Boxer.
Father of 9, and was married to my Grandmother for 3/4 of a CENTURY!
Lot of great one on one talks.
So glad I was able to FT him on his BDay Sat.
RIP, and give Gram a hug for me!
Requesting some prayers for my Dad
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
He was rushed to ER yesterday morn, and then moved to ICU. He has pneumonia and is in septic shock. Not much has changed since yesterday. Doc says he is sicker than he looks and feels. He is fighter, but could use prayers. 💪🏽🙏🏼
I hope all the white coaches that want their minority players to fight for them when the ball is tipped/kicked off, will fight for their kids when it comes to racial injustice. My guys know where I stand.

Dad no longer in septic shock!!!
Doc said he was couple hours away from dying if he didn’t come in when he did on Thursday. Gave him a 40% chance of survival at that time. Will keep him in ICU another day or two. Headed in the right direction. Thanks again for the prayers! 💪🏽🙏🏼💪🏽
Prob a lot of coaches better than me at X and Os. Prob lot of coaches that are better at individual instruction. Prob lot of coaches better at game management. BUT I dare you to find a coach that is better at loving his players. And that’s all that matters right now.

I’m so proud of our
@BryanStationBB
team. We had a great season that ended tonight with a close loss to the
#1
team in the State. We don’t do moral victories but we do hold our head up high knowing we put the state on notice. We have great kids that work their tails off. Love em!
Really proud of Cam Combs!
@camdyncombs
has a 4.0 GPA while serving as a team captain for our
@TCBasketball_
team. He works full time at his business, and JUST RECEIVED A FULL RIDE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP OFFER TO TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY.
Appreciate all the messages concerning my Dad. He’s still at UK. Long road ahead. Hoping he can recover enough to read through all these messages, texts, etc… one day!!!
Found this pic in his wallet from 20 years ago. Didn’t know he had carried it around that long 💙💪🏽

Really can’t explain how proud I am of this guy.
Coach Jarrod Gay has worked so hard as the Tates Creek Head Coach. I was fortunate enough to coach him, and now I am blessed to coach WITH him. Nobody works harder. Nobody cares more.
Huge program win tonight.
CREEK IS BACK!!!
Last Thursday I thought my Dad was going to die from pneumonia and septic shock. Doc gave him 40% chance to live. He also said, “if he had arrived 2 hrs later he would have died.”
This afternoon he is HOME and recovering!
God is good. Thank u all 4 the prayers!

11 months ago I never thought he would even walk again. But, today me and my Dad played 18 holes together. He tried to cheat me and I showed no mercy!!!!! 🤣🤣
💙💪🏽 GOOD TIME!!!!
October 15 is a HOLIDAY in the state of KENTUCKY! 🏀🏀🏀🏀
My first year as a HS asst coach was the 2000-2001 season.
Been doing this 20 years.
I don’t feel old enough for that to be possible!!!
Dad has some infections they are fighting with antibiotics. Doc thinks he will be at UK another 7-10 days and then they hope to move him to a rehab facility or a nursing home w/ rehab options. Long road ahead but we keep trying to stay positive. 💙💪🏽
Appreciate everyone!

36 games, against teams from 11 different states…THOUSANDS of dollars spent…hundreds of miles traveled… several hotel rooms…lots of fast food…millions of whistles…
And loved every minute of it!
We had a great Spring/Summer AAU Season!
Loved coaching these guys.
My wife
@meredithbordas
is amazing. This has been the longest, hardest week of her life. But when a
@TCBasketball_
guy that is a college freshman, playing ball at a school in KY needed some tutoring last night at 9pm, he called HER. And of course she helped -until 11:00!

As a basketball coach in and around Lexington for over 20 years I swear I have given more rides in this city than LexTran!!!!
But, I will say, those are some of the best memories I have as a coach. The rides to games… the rides home from WINS! Great memories.
My Dad got to come home today!
He’s thrilled to be out of the hospital/rehab facilities and be HOME.
He will be doing rehab at home and still has a lot of work to do.
We can’t thank everyone enough for the thoughts, prayers, texts, calls etc…

RIP to one of the 🐐- Charlie Givens
Great memories playing for him, playing at Salvation Army, seeing him in the stands, and talking to him at my practices as a Coach.
Great man! Rest In Peace Coach!!!
I thought I was done with High School coaching. Coach Gay brought me out of retirement, and it’s been one of the best years of my career. So blessed to have the chance to help young people on and off the court. Love this team. The players, the staff...they are FAMILY!
14 more years and I can retire and play golf everyday.
But, for now I’ll just keep Defending Station, Anchoring Down, and trying to help as many kids as I can!
Oklahoma State Coach told Mill he will be watching for him!!! 😂💪🏽
Very cool of him to come by. Mill had just asked if he was there (he had seen 100 other D1 coaches but wanted to see him too!)
I can’t believe it’s over, but I’m glad I was able to be yall’s Coach. I’m even happier we became family. I love y’all. Hold your heads up, ya left it all on the court! And, thx for being big brothers and role models for my boy Mill. He’s HURT tonight, but I know y’all got him.
From a young age I was obsessed w/ gambling. I used to gamble on any and everything. Gambling started to consume my life. So, 10/5/2014 I stopped...and I haven’t placed a bet since.
6 yrs without placing a bet.
Made me a better person, better husband and better dad!
🙏🏼💪🏽
I walk in to check on 8yo Mill & see how his online class is going...
He’s not on zoom, instead he’s doing a Fantasy Baseball Draft w/ randoms on ESPN app
ME: You’re supposed to be doing school!
MILL: chill bruh I’m tryin to get Mike Trout!
Am I winning or losing at parenting?
“Dad, let’s go shoot!”
He tells me that every single day. Can’t remember the last day he didn’t! And I will NEVER tell him no.
Love that he loves the game.

Dad got moved to Mayfair Manor today. It’s a nursing home facility, with some rehab therapy. He has made a little progress, but not a ton. We know it’s a long road. He’s a fighter and I hope he keeps fighting on this road to recovery. Again, appreciate everyone checking on us 💪🏽

Always tough seeing a Senior take his jersey off for the last time.
Also tough seeing my little 8 year old Asst Coach crying in the backseat on the drive home from the last game.
Coaching is yr 2 yr but I got a lifetime contract w my guys.

And we will be back!!!
💙💔 RIP Kel
You made all of us proud when you graduated and got accepted into the University of Louisville.
But nobody was prouder than
@meredithbordas
!
She loved you with ALL her heart! You were a son. You were a brother. You were family.
We love you!
#LLKel
In basement trying to workout to feel somewhat normal. But I keep looking over at Kel’s couch. I have no energy. Just feel empty. Cobi put Kel’s blanket on his spot last night. He loved being here. I can close my eyes and hear him snoring.
How do we all recover from this???
💔
Happy 14 Year Anniversary
@meredithbordas
I hit the Wife Lottery! Thanks for being you and putting up with me.
This Bordas life isn’t for everybody 🤣
Love you Mere 💙
When a graduating senior’s mom gives you a cigar to thank you for all you did for their son… you light it up immediately and toast to the memories and the bright future ahead of him!
Hardest day of our lives!
Appreciate the family including us with the tribute tshirts, and for asking/allowing me to speak at the service.
But, words can’t express what Kel meant to us.
Love you Kel

Big Senior is improving every day! It’s a long process but Physical Therapists definitely think he will be able to return home sooner than later.
Of course, he is ready to come home NOW.
He’s working.
The REAL HERO is my Mom
@mbbordas
. She’s been a Saint- by his side 100% 💙💪🏽

Always a great feeling looking over on the bench and seeing a former player coaching alongside you! Excited to have Amari Taylor back on the Creek bench.
Just left Shriners w/ Mill— humerus healing well! Sling can come off while at home, start physical therapy next week - 2x a week for a month. Should be fully released in a month! Let’s go!
