Idk why winning gets frowned upon in summer ball…development is priority for sure but I like winners too. If your development is as good as you sell it, some winning should follow along with it. 2 many guys use development as a scapegoat for lack of Ws. Should be a blend of both

Part of having a good culture is building relationships with your players. Never understood some coaches who just treat their guys as a number. I dealt with it a couple times as a player. I can truthfully say that I’ve genuinely cared about my players HS summer & college

Can’t express enough how dangerous you could be if you’re a guy with above average speed and you learn the art of bunting for a hit. Watched a 4 hole hitter yesterday hit a no doubt 💣 then next AB dropped one down for a hit...BAM...a 2 hit game.

A common thing that a lot of people don’t realize and I can humbly admit:
High school coaches are NOT inferior knowledge wise to college coaches.
Most instances it’s the path they each chose. I know plenty of HS coaches that could coach at the college level.

To me if a guy is half-assing basic drills (tee work, short hops, etc) because it's "easy" and "not fun"...he's the type of player that's going to play down to "easy" competition and have a lack of focus. Give me Mr. Try Hard, the 110 percenters!

Worked double play turn times for MIFs today from 2nd base. Leading the way was (FR) Chase Whisner with an avg. turn time of 1.25 secs. Also had the best time with a 1.18.

This is 100% a thought. Kids who bounce around from team to team is a red flag for a lot of guys.
Most impressive visit we had last year was a kid who told us he’d been on the SAME travel team since 8u. Too many people chasing the greener grass.
Loyalty is attractive
A college coach just said this to me about a player and it made me 😂:
“The kid is good, but he’s been on so many damn teams the last year and a half that regardless of where he starts for college he’ll be in the transfer portal after his freshman year so he’s off my list”.

D1 baseball going today. I’ve said it before…if you’re a parent or player aspiring to play college baseball, invest in ESPN+…plenty of college games on per night. I’m always amazed at how many kids want to play college baseball or step on a campus but have never seen a game.

OUTFIELDERS: we know how much you love going out and chasing down fly balls nonstop. But the reality of your position is that you'll field far more ground balls than you ever will in the air. Every base hit IS a ground ball. Practice accordingly.
