If you are getting recruited by any NAIA institutions, I recommend registering for PlayNAIA. It’s our eligibility center and you need to go through it to play at any NAIA institution.

Coaching trauma is real. Players don’t want to play anymore because of how they are mistreated. Everything won’t be cupcakes and rainbows. But there’s a way to communicate to players. I watched coaches get so mad they stopped coaching. Why? That doesn’t help the players!

Figure out why you coach and go from there. We want to see players fight through the adversities of the game. Not watch them try to pick themselves up after you verbally shut them down. I get frustrated too, I yell I may even cuss. But never directly at a player to tear them down

Prepare athletes WELL for the college level. Scoring is huge but it’s NOT everything. Can they defend without fouling ? Do they communicate only when they are critiquing a teammate or when they don’t agree with a ref? How well are they guarding screens?
