The bleachers were full tonight with MLB scouts, who were watching Tyler Dean pitch. For years, I’ve watched kids specialize, because they think that is the only way to make it. Tyler is a 2x All-Region safety for our football team...the the MLB scouts love that also.

Today, I saw a youth basketball team receive RINGS for winning a 12U basketball tournament. They went 2-1 and won their final game in a bracket that only included 4 teams total. I wanted to puke. Why are we letting youth sports take it this far? Teach them to compete...but rings?

A few years ago, we resurfaced the football field at BHS. Before all of the grass was removed, I removed a 2’ square of sod from the end zone, where we scored the game winning TD against Hburg, in 2011. It’s been in my back yard ever since & will make the trip to Roanoke!

The 1st Annual Gridiron Football Coaching Clinic was a HUGE success. We had 138 high school coaches and 24 college coaches under the same roof in Vinton. Thanks to all of the coaches that that traveled from 4 states to attend. We can’t wait until next year’s clinic.
