Tremont Waters hangs 17 points 10 assists 3 steals and a win vs a good Auburn team and an hour later he’s in the gym getting up shots

People throwing the “Point Guard” label like flyers on cars in a parking lot after an AAU tournament. If you can’t handle with both hands, feed the post with ease every time, make open 3’s, get to paint, contain and restrict your man, then you are not a point guard
If you are not individually making sure you make 400-500 shots a day outside of practice during the season, do not talk about wanting to play in the NBA. Shooters league, you get out of it what you put into it.
Kids please pay attention- NBA Summer League is a who’s who of former McDonald’s All Americans who some of which did not put their all into improving every day who are meeting draft and stash guys who worked out 6-8 hours a day to try and take that roster spot in the fall!
Born in Annapolis, grew up in St Mary’s County, went to college in Baltimore, DMV baby!!!! 19 different places I’ve rested my head calling home and now I’m heading Home for the Sweet 16!!!! 7am practice Never felt so good!!! Thank you guys you players made this happen keep it up!
Don’t claim to be a point guard if you can’t guard a point guard and have never played the position in a real competitive game! You are what you can guard!
28 Division 1 men’s college basketball games decided by 3 points or less last night.
There are no little things, everything matters, and things add up.
Games are 40 minutes and everyone needs to compete for the full 40 if you want to give yourself the best chance to win.
Biggest difference between College Basketball and the NBA= in College the team defense is usually better than the individual offensive players, in the NBA the individual offensive players is beyond comprehension better than the team or individual defenses they face.

The Basketball Gods live up in the roof of the gym looking down on those putting in work. Players getting shots up by themselves, watching coaches hold players accountable in practice. They keep tally and reward the workers and strike down havoc on the violators.
Long couple of days, hard to swallow but as I’ve learned you are better off celebrating n honoring those that have passed. Wayde Sims was a great kid and a joy to be around. His enthusiasm for Baton Rouge and LSU was off the charts. You’ll always be remembered🙌🏻

Common Denominator?
John Lucas
HS and Grassroots Coaches please sit and watch games with your players and talk about shot selection. Lots of kids watch the NBA and see shot attempts. They need to be taught about the shot clock, which too many don’t play with. Some shots NBA players take based on expiring clock
When you work on moves and are not going game speed or against live defenders you have zero reason to be disappointed or upset when you miss shots or they don’t work in game situations. Can’t have expectations for success against real players when you practice half speed vs Air🤷🏻♂️
Awesome to hear that Coach John Lucas is entering the D.C. Sports Hall of Fame, all the lives he has positively impacted, teams he’s coached, players he has helped develop and his good will as a leader in drug and achohol rehabilitation deserves a place in Naismith Hall Of Fame
There is no coaching without confrontation. If you are afraid to confront your better players and hold them accountable and challenge them to do what’s needed you can’t call yourself a coach.
Sources: After Rockets assistant John Lucas called out multiple players including Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood at halftime tonight vs. Nuggets, Porter had a heated exchange with Lucas, threw an object and promptly left the arena – and Wood refused to sub into second half.
Some footage of LSU's Skylar Mays in the NBA Combine spot-up shooting and endurance drills. Mays ranked as the second best spot-up shooter among the 40+ participants we've seen Combine data on thus far.
D1 Walk-On’s who enter the portal
You are not fooling anyone jumping in the portal and trying to project as a scholarship player.
Do not get a call and even think about asking a coach about NIL,when you weren’t on scholarship prior why would you think you should get both now?
When kids give the thank you shout out to the team and coach they played w for a couple months but not the team and coach they spent 3-4 years w before anyone else wanted them
@KendrickPerkins
knows what time it is and who’s got respect in the league. Name a coach who’s touched more lives and helped more players and people in the league than John Lucas.... you can’t. John Lucas gets to players on personal level most coaches can’t.
#whyhesgreat
Assistant college coaches listen up, if you are on a team that is getting drilled regularly please STFU on Twitter about recruiting “good kids” or whatever, go get some Daym players and coach them up or you won’t have to worry about recruiting, you’ll be coaching kids in district

There is a difference between “working out” and “training”
I’m 38 going on 37, I work out!!
Real pros “Train”, and most finish their first workout in the off season before 10am!!
Fooling Nobody!! A coach knows when you been training or not!!
If you don’t shoot game speed, recognizing space and your own personal shooting room. Everyone has their own space they need to get a clean shot off with perfect form, must be able to see it and react quickly. When your an elite shooter, teams want to take that away.
Feel bad for this generation growing up having to watch Floyd run around the ring for 12 rounds for a decision, growing up we had the preflight party but we also know we had to make plans for shortly after because Mike wasn’t going past 3 rounds
McNeese State head basketball coach
Will Wade
Is now the owner of the greatest single season win turnaround in Division 1 men’s basketball history. 11 wins to 29 wins, +18 wins w games yet to play.
Let that marinate anyway you want to.

This is what real players do, no wasted days, always getting better, if you don’t play a ton no crying about it go work on your conditioning and skill sets.
Limited playing time or not getting in the game is not an excuse for not getting better every day. The choice is yours and every day you get better or worse. Can’t get time back do not waste it. Windows close and slam shut overnight!!
#LucasLab
NBA spacing is a beautiful thing! Guys getting to natural spots on the floor when plays are broken off and defense rotates and helps, get to your spots and be ready to catch n shoot open shots!
We won a Championship!!!!!!!!!

These are the NBA players that averaged 7 rebounds per game last year. If you take out the guys still on their rookie contracts- that leaves 22 guys who are on their 2,3, or 4th contract.
Average Salary- 17.3 Million Per Year!!
Go Hit The Boards !!!!!!👊🏻😎
Problem is high school basketball has not instituted a shot clock country wide, most AAU tournaments don’t have shot clock, and therefore coaches can’t coach time and score situations. Kids don’t differentiate Harden taking deep 3 w 2 sec on shot clock w a 3 they take w no clock
@MarlandLowe
Kids are simply playing “monkey See, Monkey Do”
The “product” the NBA is putting on the floor is bad. It is not basketball, more like playing H.O.R.S.E. or “Knockout”.
Who can shoot the farthest. No method to the madness, just shoot aka “analytics”
Always dudes sneaking in the gym getting their shots up! Emmitt Williams makes 200-300 free throws a day! Tremont and Javonte always competing w each other for makes
First Aggie Greg Heiar Basketball Camp was awesome!! Kids engaged, enthusiastic and high energy!!! Billy Keys was off the charts leading the way!!!!
#AggiesBuiltDifferent
When you take contested shots consistently you are essentially playing for the other team. Kids see NBA players take contested shots, but don’t take into account a good number of those shots are against an expiring shot clock. Kids are taking contested shots w 20 seconds on clock
Met BJ Johnson in 2000 at Nike Camp in Indy, took me under his wing. From Slam Dunk to the Beach, all the lunches, riding to college games together talking ball on the way, Fonde Rec mornings in Lucas Lab. So many great memories. Bijan your dad was so proud of you!! In my prayers
People throwing the “Point Guard” label like flyers on cars in a parking lot after an AAU tournament. If you can’t handle with both hands, feed the post with ease every time, make open 3’s, get to paint, contain and restrict your man, then you are not a point guard
Lot of talent in the gyms this weekend in Dallas, EYBL, Buff”s Who wants the Smoke- ALOT of talent.
Mind you not everyone watching knows what they are looking at or has a clue how to project long term.
If no one tweeted about you IT DOES NOT MATTER!!!
Keep working!!
My thoughts on NBA Summer League after watching in person over 12 games.
1) Got to be able to catch and make open shots
2) Sprinting to corners in transition is a must to space the court
3) Parents/Handlers can’t save you
4) Beginning for some Beginning of End for others
You are either an Energy Giver or an Energy Taker? Which are you? Do you inspire people and drive a group or do you suck the life out of it and bring people down? Great teams strive to turn everyone into Energy Givers!
If your habits are going to prevent you or could prevent you from reaching your goals you better change your habits.
If you change your goals to meet your habits, You have a Problem, and should have zero expectation to reach your original goal

6’3 2027 Brandon Mason was one of if not the highest ceiling players of the whole camp. Shoots it from deep w accuracy, can get downhill and make correct pass. Needs to improve quicks 2 defend perimeter.
All my chips on the table for him to be “One of them One’s” JohnLucasIMSC
