@belle__abeille Limiting movement & liberty during a hurricane may be justifiable & often is, but it is not within the PM’s power to order a curfew. It is the GG that must under ss. 20 & 13(9) of the Constitution proclaim a “period of public disaster” & then orders follow. No time is lost.

@karendmadden Thanks Karen. I saw the highlights. Happy to see Leon playing and contributing. It would be nice if they could go all the way. Stronger, deeper squad…needed for the multiple competitions.

The Government/JLP proposes, in moving to a Republic to retain the only area in which the King continues to rule us. The former enslaver will continue to dispense final justice. Keeping the King (in Council) in the one area of national life he currently plays an actual role whilst booting him in the areas (executive & legislative) in which he plays symbolic roles whilst saying you are abolishing the monarchy is absurd to me. And would result in the creation of, imo, a bastard republic. Other bastard republic features: *Increasing the power of the PM, thereby reducing the power of the parliament and the people. Republicanism is about non-domination of the people by executive powers. It centres and vests power in the people and not the executive. *Absence of impeachment & recall provisions. This centres & vests power in the executive & elected officials, making the people their servants rather than them being the servants of the people.

I find it crazy how the two primary political parties, in more recent years, pay little or no attention to recruitment and the diversification of their platforms to absorb quality people, great ideas, workable solutions and strategies. The PNP, as the Opposition, have begun to count eggs and are having discussions about who should get what in the formation of the next government. This sense of entitlement is simply bewildering. JLP & PNP are both involved in a race to the bottom rather than a climb to the top. Personal ambitions & goals more important than building a strong viable democracy & an inclusive economy where the Black majority have access to: quality education, finance, shelter, quality health care…

You are hitting the nail on its head. We don’t even need our leaders to make personal sacrifices…all we need is for them to recognize that community & national goals are as significant as their own personal ambitions & goals and prioritize accordingly. Right now personal ambitions trump community & national goals.
