There are all sorts of odd-looking plants in Saguaro National Park. All the variations of texture seemed to jump out at us as we meandered. There were so many photographic opportunities in that wonderfully strange environment.

This set of mangroves is located near the channel into Everglades City. I passed by many times, but the light for shooting was always wrong. On this day, everything came together… the light, the clouds and the stillness of the water.

Sitting in nature with the person I love and waiting for a full moon to rise while the rest of the cares of the world drift away is one of the best ways to spend an evening. Niki and I watched the moon as it climbed.

Canoeing along the Wilderness Waterway near Sanibel Island is a great adventure. When the water smoothed out so the clouds were reflecting in it, I took the picture.

During the early days of our marriage, we spent our lives in northern California, where I fell in love with the ecosystem of the redwood forests.

I rarely photograph man-made structures, but when I saw the lighthouse on Key Biscayne, its exotic presence inspired me to take a picture.

Situated on a barrier island on Florida's western coastline, Cayo Costa Island State Park can only be reached by boat or ferry. During one visit, I spotted a tree washed ashore and felt compelled to capture it.

I photographed each monument just as most photographers do... but the longer I stayed in Monument Valley, the more I wanted to capture the beauty of the environment in which the monuments are located.

invited me to photograph their gardens, I was thrilled. Over the course of a month, Niki and I photographed, mainly in the early morning and late evening hours when the garden was empty.

My favorite period of art is the Hudson Bay period. I love paintings from the era showing the romantic beauty of the earth. I had always wanted to photograph along the Hudson. This is the natural landscape I had looked for.

📷 Cody Island 2 was taken with a Deardorff 8×10 camera on Tri-X film. This photograph is hand-printed in Clyde’s darkroom on fiber-based paper, selenium toned, then mounted and matted to current archival standards.

This tree was 53 feet around. I have never seen a cypress tree that large! Without a person standing beside it, the immensity of the tree isn’t evident.

This was the first photograph Clyde took after the death of his son, Ted, who, at 17 years old, was killed by a drunk driver in 1986. Out of Clyde’s sorrow came the light of seeing the world around him differently.

Pismo Beach was a favorite haunt of Clyde's while he was a student at San Luis Obispo. When he became a full-time photographer, he chose to return to it and to do several photographic studies of the area. This is one of those scenes.

When I saw this mangrove sitting all alone surrounded by crystal clear water, the simplicity of the image attracted me to the scene. The transparency of the water accentuates the importance of clean water to the Florida Keys.
