National Cancer Day last Tuesday meant this week was a big one for meetings with cancer groups. Here's a sum up of what I did this week. Also, a huge congratulations to Chetna Jamthe, Winnersh's new borough councillor following her by-election victory on Thursday!

Massive congratulations to Chetna for her well deserved by-election victory in Winnersh last night! Chetna is a fantastic member of the Winnersh community and will be a great borough councillor.

It was great to meet with representatives from Moderna today. Following the Government's announcement of the National Cancer Plan that I've been calling for, I hope the Government engages across the medical research and supply chain to ensure that it is as effective as possible.

I was delighted to ask my first PMQ last week, and from it secured an important ministerial meeting to discuss the challenges facing Royal Berkshire Hospital. Here's a summary of some of the other things I did last week:

Today, I met with Mark Foulkes MBE, a Nurse Consultant at Royal Berks. We discussed his work in cancer care and what he and his colleagues need from a National Cancer Strategy.

Yesterday, I marked Holocaust Memorial day by signing the @HolocaustUK's Book of Commitment. Education about these atrocities is vital in ensuring that we recognise and prevent them ever happening again.

It's been a hugely important week, headlined by the heartbreaking news that the Royal Berks' rebuild won't begin for another 12 years. Here's a quick summary of what I've been doing this week:

I also met with members of Young Lives with Dementia, a fantastic Wokingham based charity who won Tesco's Stronger Start grant, and provide incredible advocacy and support.

The Government’s decision to delay the Royal Berks’ rebuild until 2037 will worsen the spiralling maintenance costs needed to keep the hospital functioning and safe. These costs cannot be ignored. I demanded the Minister ensured that issues caused by the delay won’t be ignored.

Councils are in desperate need for better funding to support SEND children. Demand is rising and the costs growing. Despite this, the Government is reducing support to Wokingham Borough Council by £1million. This will worsen the situation for many pupils. This must change.

The Government’s decision to delay the Royal Berks’ rebuild until 2037 is nothing short of heartbreaking. Patients and staff cannot afford further delay. Today, I demanded the previous government take responsibility and apologise for the woeful state they left the NHS in.

The latest report from @bowelcanceruk shows that progress on early diagnosis of the disease has stagnated. That's why I, alongside other MPs, have sent a letter to the Secretary of State for Health, asking him to commit to optimising the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

There were so many incrediby important debates and votes in Parliament this week, on everything from RBH to harmful online content. Here's a brief summary of my week:

The previous government's legacy of failure in our NHS has left patients and staff at Royal Berks in the dark about the rebuild it so desperately needs. Today, I again asked the Minister to reassure everyone at RBH that he will not make the same mistake as his predecessor.

Thames Water have repeatedly dealt out huge bonuses for their bosses while neglecting our waterways and ramping up prices on consumers. This has to stop. Thames Water must be placed into special administration so we can finally reverse the damage they've done to our environment.

I've joined the APPG on Less Survivable Cancers, and this week is Less Survivable Cancers Awareness Week! The Government need to prioritise early detection, research funding and the development of new treatment options for these cancers through a national cancer strategy.
