AVON LAKE, OHIO: The final implosion in the project to dismantle the Avon Lake Power Plant was completed this morning and its videos are awesome. The decision was previously made to turn it over to Charah Solutions Inc. to remove the building, assess and remediate potential pollution in the environment, and set the land up for future development. This comes after years of deliberation regarding the use of coal for energy production and the impact it leaves on the environment. The remaining tower will be left in place as it has newly installed telecommunication devices. It will also remain as a reminder of the city’s past and as the symbol of Avon Lake for years to come. Godspeed Avon Lake Power Plant, you will be missed.
