It's called a subway. New York figured this out 115+ years ago.
@ValaAfshar Tunnels are the solution to traffic. You can have as many levels as you want. Usable tunnel depth far exceeds tallest buildings, so would work even for New York or Beijing.

I am reminded of a transit rally in 2019 when then-BP Eric Adams said he rode the bus every day, and held up a MetroCard as evidence. It was a 2-trip MetroCard.
I asked Mayor Adams if he would set an example and take the subway to work every day. He doesn’t answer directly but says he’s on the subway a lot and has to be realistic not idealistic.

Looks like there are a lot of holes in this public-private partnership.
@stevek8n9 Hi Steve, like previously stated, Dunkin Donuts is responsible for opening the doors in the morning at Hamilton station. NJT has spoken to the vendor multiple times. If you would like to file a formal complaint, use the link below. -TB

New Yorkers are now far more likely to be killed in a car crash than a shooting. City data shows 127 people were killed in traffic crashes during the first six months of the year, compared to 82 who were fatally shot. w/ @s_nessen .

During an "on topic" q-and-a following this ceremony, I asked MTA chairman Janno Lieber why there weren't tactile warning strips at this station. Staff shut down my question, declined to answer.
MTA now honoring two police officers as a "Hero of the Subway.". Detective Greco and Officer Macaluso who pulled a blind man to safety after he tumbled onto the tracks. "Sir, are you ok?"

👀👀"It is no accident that chief among the voices protesting the toll are more than 100,000 public employees who have government-issued parking placards allowing them to park private cars for free in often illegal curbside spaces across the city.".
Nation's first congestion relief zone will help businesses' bottom lines: "Large and small businesses have much to gain in reduced overtime, lower fuel costs, and more predictable delivery schedules." From Carl Weisbrod & Kathryn Wylde in @NYDailyNews op-ed.

If @NYCMayor loves traffic jams so much he should ride the M15 bus downtown with the Daily News tomorrow morning. It's the busiest bus route in the city and it runs like crap.

Just requested the MTA's latest vaccination data. The response from MTA spox @timmintonNY: "If you still had editors, they would not have approved OT for this.". We still have editors. Chastising the paper's staffing problems isn't just unprofessional -- it's punching down.

It's a real goddamn disaster when your DOT Commissioner -- who's main initiative is to expand bike parking in NYC -- doesn't know how to respond to cops condemning a majority of the city's bike parking.
“I’m not going to comment on that until we find out what happened,” said DOT Commissioner Hank Gutman at an unrelated presser today when I asked him about this. DOT rep afterward wouldn’t tell me whether it’s ok to lock your bikes to one of their poles or not.

What is stopping New York officials from implementing this street design throughout the city?. Wrong answers only.

New York can't do this because it's the greatest city in the world.
Reported a malfunctioning pedestrian signal to Taipei’s 1999 hotline and within two minutes I get a call from the transportation department to clarify a few questions and they’ve already sent someone to check it out. It’s 10 PM on a Sunday.

At a rally decrying the MTA's planned service cuts, @BPEricAdams held up a MetroCard to show that he's a daily rider. It was a 2-trip MetroCard. 🤔

The MTA board just gave its final approval for congestion pricing, realizing a longtime dream of transit advocates, who for more than 50 years have proposed charging drivers to enter Manhattan's busiest areas. @s_nessen is on the scene:.

The city won't even take away a parking space or a bus stop without extensive public notice and input.
De Blasio made clear this morning that he has given the NYPD full discretion to shut down city parks proactively, without any notice to the public, or any communication with City Hall. That's a pretty significant power!.
