I enjoyed my visit to Yate Academy today. I had a very useful discussion with the Head, Eddie Rakshi and Izzy Ambrose, the Director of Secondary at Greenshaw Learning Trust. I was impressed with the calm atmosphere and learning environment at the school.

It was good to meet Grace, owner of the Viaduct Cafe in Coalpit Heath. Business is down 60% since the Badminton Road Bridge over the M4 shut, taking away passing trade. I raised this issue in parliament and will continue to campaign for compensation for affected businesses.

Too many carers across the country are being unfairly punished by the Department for Work & Pensions for minor overpayments. Today at PMQs, I pressed the Prime Minister over their actions and raised the case of a former local police officer who's been caught up in this scandal.

Last week, I led a debate in Parliament on the impact of the closure of the A432 overbridge. I put several direct questions to the Minister about what the Govt was doing to speed up the work, support those affected, and prevent this happening again. Sadly, he chose to duck them.

It was great to be able to join @NACMCiderMakers in Parliament today to celebrate the great West Country tradition of Wassail. Cider is such an important part of our heritage and is still providing local jobs today. We need to ensure we keep the industry thriving!

It was great to visit Southwold House today. It provides a home for young people from 16 - 25. I spoke Cordell Ray, @CCPChiefExec of @CCPCharity which runs the house and other initiatives. I (literally) made my mark at the house, thanks to Dawson who is a resident there!

I visited Two Bridges Academy in Alveston today. The school welcomes pupils between the ages of 2-19 with learning difficulties. The school opened in September. Thank you to Headteacher Carrie Osmond and Andrew Buckton, CEO of Enable Trust for their welcome.

I am urgently seeking a meeting with Lloyds Bank over the proposed closure of its Thornbury Branch. I am hugely disappointed about this decision. Many people still rely on face-to-face counter services to do their banking, so I am urging Lloyds to reconsider.
