Having fun with @postmarketOS Going to demonstrate bleeding edge tech on 7-year-old smartphones. What the irony.

@LeoDiAgent @_trish_07 I wish we wouldn't have to do it. Even though go is lighter than Java, I guess you always end up with quite some overhead when you go with a gc language.

@LeoDiAgent @_trish_07 Yeah, that's why I hate this mentality of: Monoliths are always evil. They aren't. Plus, you can also design a monolith in a way that makes it easier to move to a service based architecture later.

@LeoDiAgent @_trish_07 Docker compose is almost on par with k8. It's also not very helpful to use it in embedded environments. We most likely are going to end up writing some custom CRI management for an embedded environment. k3s is supposed to smaller, but it's still 300mb of memory.

@LeoDiAgent @_trish_07 On one machine, this is really barely noticeable. On a multi-cluster, certainly true. On the other hand you can easily replace services and therefore you can move more easy. I am with you though. If you can: just write a good monolith.

@_trish_07 @LeoDiAgent You can also just use docker compose if you only run everything on one machine. But honestly, k8 has an overhead of 300mb memory. In web based services this is an overhead you can easily do. If you do embedded dev, that's a different story and something we struggle with.

@LeoDiAgent @_trish_07 Not really. If you use the same layers, it doesn't matter if you run 2 or 10.
