“One thing I will not co-operate on is no deal”
Donald Tusk reiterates that a no-deal
#Brexit
is not acceptable to the EU, but says they stand ready to “listen to ideas… acceptable to all member states”
So Barry Gardiner wants a Brexit that “doesn’t undermine the economy”.
I want a bank balance that doesn’t decrease when I use my debit card.
#DontVoteLabourVoteRemain
So... two people who spar in Parliament every week get to do a televised debate, both on the same side, to convince the public of something they will not be allowed to vote on, while excluding alternative views on the question.
Did I get that right?
(I might regret this tweet, so reserve the right to delete it...)
Am I the only one who is angry that voters like myself, who took the time to inform themselves about Brexit, are ignored...
... while those lazy enough to fall for the lies are now pandered to by
@uklabour
?
I have sat in a room in London while European industrialists spelled out in clear terms to HMG the implications of Brexit for their businesses.
Do not let anyone tell you that the government is unaware of the consequence of Brexit.
This is a choice. It is not an accident.
Am hearing there is a new court case to be brought in Dublin within hours - if May’s toxic deal passes next week.
It would seek an injunction based on the fact that the deal infringes the rights of the people of NI.
Stay tuned!
#RevokeArticle50
I wonder how many of the
@Conservatives
MPs now condemning the antidemocratic actions in the US, also supported the prorogation of Parliament to avoid democratic scrutiny of Brexit?
Why have the UK’s journalists suddenly rediscovered their critical faculties, when they were dormant throughout the several years of Brexit debacle?
Any ideas?
I was
#OppressedByTheEU
when, as a student, I was forced to teach English for a year in a French school. And they had the temerity to pay me!
Later, I was compelled to accept a job in France where I slaved for years in pleasant surroundings for a good salary.
Shameful.
Ok
@BBCNews
you report on a Welsh protest against the 20 mph speed limit but are silent on the huge
@MarchForRejoin
in London?
Have you been told not to report on it?
@bbradleymp
As you well know (or should), the issue is not the chlorine per se, but the fact that it is needed to disinfect meat that is ridden with harmful bacteria due to appalling and unsanitory farming conditions.
Look at comparative rates of food poisoning in US and EU for starters.
UK Government position today:
ACCEPTABLE: Planning to charter ships to feed the population.
NOT ACCEPTABLE: Giving people the chance to change their mind and return to quiet normality.
Meanwhile...
@theresa_may
speaks of the national interest.
Yeah, right.
It seems pretty clear that the
#RussiaReport
is being withheld until after the UK has left the EU, at which point it will be too late to act on any findings calling into doubt the legitimacy of the referendum.
Anyone have reason to doubt this analysis?
Heard today from a source in Brussels:
"If any British politician suggests that it is possible to negotiate a different deal to the Withdrawal Agreement, or any changes to it at all, they are lying to the British people."
@theresa_may
@jeremycorbyn
Apologies for the repetition, but on the subject of technology to avoid a hard border in Ireland:
The technology is well-known and already in widespread use:
A computer, word-processing software, a printer, and a pen.
To compose, print out, and sign the A50 revocation letter.
So,
@KateHoeyMP
, could you please share with us your analysis that apparently led you to conclude:
- Rigged Zimbabwe election should be annulled
- Rigged EU referendum should NOT be annulled
Thank you.
Sorry,
@BorisJohnson
, but if my (very capitalist) employer considers it more responsible for me to work from home (and gives the whole company an extra day off to compensate for the stress of abnormal working), who are you to say otherwise?
Let me get this straight:
People voted massively for a party whose slogan is “STOP BREXIT” because they want to “get on with” Brexit???
Something doesn’t seem right, but I can’t put my finger on what it is...
This is STAGGERING!
@theresa_may
seems to believe that her restrictions on EU citizens coming to the UK will NOT be matched by equivalent restrictions by EU countries on UK citizens.
It actually says in her deal that movement will be based on RECIPROCITY.
Thanks
@PeteWishart
Invraisemblable
If a government finds itself planning for:
1. Stockpiling processed food
2. Installing generator barges in the North Sea to supply electricity to NI
As a result of its OWN POLICIES,
Is that not a signal that those policies are just plain WRONG?
#StopBrexit
#PeoplesVote
Please RT if you, too, are incandescent with rage and suffused with disgust at
@theresa_may
's "queue jumper" insult to our fellow Europeans.
#PeoplesVote
I am amazed that no Brits seem to be outraged that Irish citizens living the UK have more rights than UK citizens do.
They can live freely and vote in UK elections but retain EU freedom of movement.
Just spent the week working in France and Germany. Everyone, from taxi drivers to senior execs, asked me WTF the UK was doing to itself with Brexit, and why.
@DPJHodges
He actually cited many many precedents, from 1604 up to 1920.
He also made a point of clarifying that the only reason for 1920 being the most recent, was that there had been no breaches between then and now.
Am tempted to put in an FOI request to DExEU and the Cabinet Office asking for all information they hold documenting the benefits of Brexit.
What say you, Twitter?
A question: has anybody seen any evidence, or even assertion, that MEPs standing for The Brexit Party are actually members of the party?
The party's constitution requires candidates for election to be members, but nobody seems willing to confirm their membership.
Anyone?
Just to be clear:
#FBPE
is not party political.
It will swing behind
@jeremycorbyn
the moment he comes out unambiguously against Brexit.
It really is that simple.
PS it is also anti
@theresa_may
,
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
and the other Brexit shills.
Question for
@bbcnews
:
Could you please explain:
NEWS: A few Brexiters illegally dumping dead fish in the Thames.
NOT NEWS: Thousands marching against Brexit across the country.
Yours, perplexed of London.
#StopBrexit
I have a few questions for this obvious liar:
1. Where is this “benefits office”?
2. How exactly has he “seen people entering the country” and going straight there?
3. Please provide details of port of entry and means of surveillance deployed.
Despicable mendacious xenophobe.
“I’ve seen people entering the country and going straight down to the benefits office”
Interesting. What was the result? Because under EU free movement rules they wouldn’t be entitled to a penny. In fact, they could only stay if they can pay their way.
Anyone else find interesting that polls are now showing Remain in the lead by 55/45, while almost the entire political class and media are pushing Brexit?
Interesting that
@SadiqKhan
, unlike other leading
@uklabour
figures, has been unashamedly pro-European and has argued for membership of the single market.
And he wins decisively!
(Please take note,
@Keir_Starmer
)
Did I just hear BBC radio 4 news mention the UK’s “loss of access to the EU’s Galileo system”?
Really,
#r4today
?
Don’t you mean “the UK’s unilateral decision to withdraw from Galileo despite having invested over £1B in the programme.”
Why not report fully and accurately?
@lewis_goodall
That’s not how it works, Lewis!
Grant Shapps will not quarantine himself* and as a result the quarantine rule will be dropped as if it never existed.
*my hypothesis based on recent events.
So
@DominicRaab
claims that ‘no deal’ was discussed as a risk ‘almost every day’ during the referendum campaign, and is therefore an outcome with a ‘mandate’ from the referendum.
I don’t remember that.
Can anyone find any examples of references to ‘no deal’?
#BBCR4today
I voted tactically for
@UKLabour
. Not my first choice - because of Brexit, obviously.
But I have to admit I am feeling a little twinge of hope.
Anyone else?
Every time
@uklabour
says “there will be no return to freedom of movement” another chunk of their borrowed support falls away.
What are you thinking
@Keir_Starmer
?
Why?
Why do you want to deprive the UK of prosperity?
@HackneyAbbott
How about this: “It is now clear that ANY form of Brexit will be hugely damaging to the country and to working people. For this reason, Labour supports a public vote between the negotiated Brexit deal and remaining in the EU. In that vote we will campaign strongly to remain”
The Prime Minister has been found in contempt of Parliament (apparently without consequences), yet No 10 accuses the speaker of “sabotage” for following well-established rules that No 10, apparently, had forgotten about.
Is this OK? I don’t think so!
@OwenJones84
Does it not strike you as odd that Labour LOST seats even with the most catastrophic government in living memory?
Could it possibly be that Labour is the most catastrophic opposition in living memory?
#RemainBacklash
Can anyone explain why the PM is touring the country in a military helicopter to convince people to support something she has decreed they must have no say in?
#PeoplesVote
If anyone has any hesitation about joining the
#PeoplesVoteMarch
next Saturday - don’t!
I spent a lifetime NOT going on marches, but Brexit has changed that. I’ve been on every London march and, without exception, they have been joyous, fun events without any hint of trouble 👍🏻
@BBCR4Feedback
@PatriciaPouncey
@BBCRadio4
A number of reasons:
1. “Dumbing down” of what should be serious programmes (eg R4 Today)
2. Uncritical reporting of obviously bad things like Brexit (yes it’s a disaster and the BBC is irresponsible to ignore it)
3. Allowing politicians to go unchallenged when they lie
Something is troubling me:
If Gove, Johnson &Co want a second chance to vote on a backstop because they didn’t understand the consequences of their vote...
... shouldn’t the rest of us have the same privilege about Brexit?
#PeoplesVote
#PeoplesVoteMarch
Brexit-supporting colleague just told me over lunch "I don't think Brexit's going to happen."
What's more, he really didn't seem bothered by it (and we have had very 'robust' discussions in the past...).
Anyone else with similar experiences?
#RevokeArticle50
A gentle reminder to MPs in “Leave” seats…
Your job is to represent the INTERESTS of your constituents, not to implement blindly a wrecking Brexit that bears no resemblance to what they thought they were voting for.
They will blame YOU for loss of their livelihoods.
@DPJHodges
It’s market forces doing their thing!
Prêt exists to serve a need. People don’t exist to serve Prêt. Presumably new businesses and jobs will be created to serve the new and changed needs.
I thought that was how capitalism was supposed to work?
Can we please stop the nonsense about FoM “discriminating” in favour of EU nationals?
FoM is a *reciprocal* right - UK nationals can live and work wherever they wish in the EU/EEA.
That is *not* discrimination!
I’m puzzled by Leavers claiming that Parliament (voted 2017) is somehow no longer legitimate, while the referendum (voted 2016) has perpetual and immutable significance...
Can a Leaver please explain the logic behind this position?
