I’m just trying to get movie fans to realize that so much of what they consume is not worth the time, energy, and money they throw at it. Film is such a beautiful art form, but so many recent blockbusters are formulaic products. It’s bad for viewers and it’s bad for cinema.

Film twitter has a “masterpiece or bust” mentality and it’s so exhausting. Pretending a movie is horrible because you didn’t like the lighting or the editing in one scene is so annoying. Not every movie needs to reshape the film landscape.

I have no shame in admitting that I actually care about the Academy Awards and I genuinely want them to recognize great films. Obviously they miss sometimes but overall it’s still a very important part of film culture in America.

I think it’s because The Last Crusade has is a really good movie on its own too. Doesn’t rely on the nostalgia. A lot of the fan service stuff in new films seem to be reminding the audience of when that series was good. Like “Hey remember all this cool stuff we did?”

Very cool that Dune Part 2 is being treated like an event (similar to Barbenheimer). It’s being talked about everywhere and people feel like they need to go to a theater to experience it. That’s how cinema stays alive.

Trial of the Chicago 7 is getting too much hate. I agree it’s not deserving of the awards but it’s not a bad movie. Sometimes movies are just good or okay. Not everything needs to be a masterpiece or terrible. Film Twitter seems to struggle with this.
