Very happy, as President of the NHL Broadcasters' Association, that our membership has recognized Rod Brind'amour as this year's Coach of the Year. All 3 finalists have Whalers/Hurricanes ties and were worthy candidates!.

Today marks the 36th anniversary of the most exciting game I had broadcast up to that point in Hartford Whalers history. The 2-1 overtime loss in the franchise"s first game 7 ever. And despite losing the game, the the atmosphere in the old Forum was something to behold! Wow!.

Wow! I just realized when I woke up this morning that today is the 41st anniversary of my first broadcast with the Hartford Whalers. It was an accident from game against Pittsburgh and my color commentator was Mr Hockey. God Rest his soul.

If it weren't for the Hartford Whalers, there would be no @Canes. I salute all the loyal wonderful fans who continue to love this team throughout its history from CT to NC. Thank you @GoYardgoats for another memorable Whalers weekend!.

This year's E C Final was the closest 4 game sweep I can ever remember. There was only 2:40 of game time in the series when score wasn't tied or was a one goal difference. Remarkable! I salute Rod and the 'Canes for a great series played. Good luck Paul Maurice and the Panthers!.

Rest in peace Mr. Hull. I will never forget his kindness on a February day in 1980 when he carried my 1-year-old son up the stairs for my wife and me at the Connecticut DMV office as we applied for our Connecticut driver's licenses together. Very thoughtful and kind of him.

I'm having a mixed feeling, happy/sad night watching my friend, Rick Jeanneret calling his last game for the Sabres. Happy to hear him, yet sad I'll never hear him again after tonight. 50 great years! What a career!.

When the 1980 US Olympic team was upsetting the Soviets on this day 43 years ago, I was on an airplane going to Atlanta with the Whalers hoping to watch the tape delayed game when I landed. The pilot ruined it for me by announcing the score as we were in flight. I was so mad LOL.

Another successful Whalers alumni weekend was had thanks to the Hartford Yard Goats baseball team. And despite the severe thunderstorm that blew in during our autograph session, Whaler fans showed their true hardiness and dedication by coming out in droves! Appreciate you!.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Emile Francis yesterday. He was a hockey man's hockey man. I will always remember his impact on the Whalers organization and his undying loyalty! He was a joy to be around! God bless his family!.

Ironically on this date in 1966 I saw Bobby and the Hawks beat the Red Wings at Olympia 5 to 1. Never dreaming that I would ever get to know him personally. I've lived out a dream. God bless the Hull family.

@Mike_kim714 Many moons ago on WTIC Radio we did Saturday and Sunday coverage before the PGA Tour radio took it over in 1997. I always loved the event because I covered it on the course and it was very fascinating to watch the best players in the world at their craft.
