Finally my 2024 Manga collection video is here!! Some stats about what kinds of series I have and of course showing off everything I've got! Please take a look! It's a long one so put it on in the background if you need to!
I really hate how anime fans talk about Jpop. It's all just "anime openings" to them.
Japan has the second largest music market in the world and its unfair to these artist to be reduced to "the 3rd Naruto OP"
Until Shojo manga gets the same quality anime, merchandising, marketing, industry and fan respect as Shounen and Seinen series, I’m going to continue to correct you on demographics.
The solution to shortage of translators is not machine translation. It’s paying translators what they are worth so it becomes an attractive and viable career path for more people.
Manga localization technology company Orange Inc. announced they’ve raised approximately USD 19.5 million fundraising in pre-series A financing (financing round led by Shogakukan, ANRI, GFR Fund, more), with funds used to assist their product and launch their digital manga store
I get so many tiktoks of guys sitting on couches with microphones talking about anime for their little podcast.
Who wants to do this with me but for Shoujo? Let’s just talk about Shoujo manga with the confidence of a man with a microphone.
If Viz made a Shojo beat app with the same access to content like the Shonen Jump app it doesn’t even have to be $2 a month. That would be a dream but I would gladly pay $10 a month for access to all the Shojo beat manga + new chapters of everything from Hana to Yume or Margret.
Travis Japan US Tour dates!! If you love Jpop, idols, or just guys that dance really really well, please consider going to see Travis Japan! They are really amazing and the show should be a lot of fun!

There is a new Manga store in NYC! The Manga Spot.
It is located at the Turnstyle Underground Market in Columbus Circle. It's been open for about two weeks.
My friend in NYC investigated. It's mostly just manga with minimal other merch (but more product is expected)
I am going to cry. Hana-Kimi is one of my favorite manga of all time. Its' what turned me into a Shojo girlie. I can't believe this Hana-Kimi anime is real and they look SO GOOD
I know a lot of people, esp adults, are tired of High School romances but I love high school romance manga so much.
Maybe it’s because high school wasn’t great for me so I’m just living vicariously through made up Japanese high schoolers.
People complain all the time that High school Shojo is too fluffy or safe or all the boys are boring or too nice.
But then when there is a romance that challenges that it's "toxic"
What do you want? Safe characters or complicated characters with flaws they work through?
It’s really not about “girls and boys can like both things” it’s about how a specific subset of this medium is being treated vastly differently than the rest of it.
TOP Best-Selling Manga Series 2022 · First Half of the Year
Jujutsu and Tokyo Revengers still at the very top, and SxF joins them!
And a few new ones arrive to the top, BlueLock, Mystery to Iu Nakare or My Dress-up Darling
Series that have experience a tremendous rise this year
@manga_nostalgic
There are so many Shoujo that get labeled as romance when they aren't. Like Yona is often called a Romance story when it's Action/Adventure with a romance subplot. I don't really trust how Shoujo are categorized on anything but like baka updates
@manga_nostalgic
I mean he could just say that he's bad at talking to girls instead of saying that guys in manga who can talk and interact with girls normally is "unrealistic"
I know it's hard out there, but not everyone's experience is the same
The audience of an English publisher would presumably not know enough Japanese to know what current series in Japanese are like. So how can we know if we want them.
It's time for a Manga Collection Tour! Have 600+ volumes of mostly Shojo and Josei manga so let's take a look!
It's a long one so take your time and chill!
@thehorsecharles
I never really take manga girls with pink hair as that's what their hair actually is unless its specifically mentioned. I always take pink hair on manga girls to be like a rose milk tea color. dyed, but more brown. like this
Do I want manga companies to take bigger risks with the Shojo manga they get? Yes!
Am I also excited for the new things we got? Also Yes!
Both can be true!
You are going to tell me that, just as the series is ending, you are going to take away simulpubs elsewhere and then NOT PUT IT ON THE APP.
How are you not gonna use, the insanely popular nostalgic MASTERPEICE that is Cardcaptor Sakura to launch your app.

And like Hoshino Gen has been a viral sensation since at least 2016! There is so much interesting Jpop music and the artists should get the respect they deserve from the rest of the world.
I am literally fine with Seinen romance or Bishounen (this is the actual word. Not “Shojo coded”) in anime and manga. Half of my personality is about liking pretty men (idols and 2D). Like what you like and hype of your favorite series but maybe think about things a little more
Can we please get more guests from a larger variety of things? All the cons around me cater towards the same type of dudebro media and its so disappointing.
Also, Maybe spread out the types of panels. 3 shojo panels first thing in the morning back to back on friday is mean
The Full Time Wife Escapist is coming to Netflix!! This drama is really fun and it has a lot of commentary on current social issues in Japan (Job searching, the value of the labor of a house wife). It also features some great communication by the main couple!
Tamon’s B-side is the perfect manga to live out your delulu idol fan dreams. It’s a little over the top but the feelings of idol fans are spot on. I have though many of the same things as Uta about my oshi~ Highly recommend!!!
Fumi Cosplay from Otakon! I loved being my girl Fumi Nishioka~ Queen’s Quality is my favorite manga so I’m glad I could rep her at the con!

I forgot that Uraraka looked like that in the manga. And all this time I’ve been getting down on myself for cosplaying her cause I’m not like her anime version.
I have officially made it to Youtube Partner! It's been a really hard fight to get this but I finally did it!
I'm happy to "make money" from my videos, this really tells me that what I'm doing is reaching people and they enjoy it. So thank you to everyone who has watched!
I had to leave r / Shoujo. I don’t get anything out of it and most things just make me rage.
Here’s to curating an online experience that brings me joy~
I grew up mostly reading Shonen manga but these were essentials for me! Kimi ni Todoke I didn't read until college, but it was so special! Everything else has defined me as a manga reader today~

I’m gonna add here, this only goes for licensing. I don’t advocate for reading scans of things that have been licensed in your language/country/market.
Everyone's defining and nostalgic Shojo series seem to be Fruits Basket and Nana. I didn't watch/read Fruits basket until I was in my 30s and I read maybe one volume of Nana in high school.
For me it's Cardcaptor Sakura. Not even Sailor moon is as important to me as CCS
If crunchyroll wants to to be an anime monopoly in North America they should set an example and pay their voice actors and translators livable and GOOD wages. You make so much god damn money, spend some of it on THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE ANIME IN THE WEST POSSIBLE
This makes me so fucking angry.
I love manga so much and I don’t want to read AI shit. This is going to create more problems and so many highly skilled people will lose their jobs. Eventually you won’t have people who know enough to fix the problems.
Shogakukan announced they plan to launch a light novel reading app with English Translated titles
• They will use AI translation with the help of Company Mantra
• They state doing it this way will “help cut translation costs in half and allow to quickly ramp up production”
Some one asked me today to recommended a Shojo anime with really high quality animation and I was really struggling to give them a good answer. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I don’t watch a lot of anime, more of a manga reader tbh)
Otakon attendees! If you love either Shojo Manga and Fashion I'm hosting the perfect panel for you! Please check out Shoujo Fashion 101 with me,

, and Michi from

Ah yes, the Shojo manga aesthetic. Just half of your manga being the same red and white spine so you don't know what manga is what.
Really in it for the Aesthetics
I just started reading Anashin's new manga Unmei no Hito ni Deau Hanashi, and within the first few pages the main character is reading Waiting for Spring. lmao
Fushigi Yuugi if it was published today:
That time I didn’t want to take my exams so I fell in love with a book character and saved the Kingdom from my best friend who is now my enemy???
In another world
Throwing this out to the Shoujo readers:
What are some school uniforms in Shoujo manga that you love?
Taking suggestions of this to showcase for a panel I'm doing. I've got like Sailor Moon, CCS, fushigi Yuugi covered.
The pipeline from lonely anime fanboy to bigot is all too common. A popular anime/manga t*kt*k creator admitted to being in hate groups as recent as 2019(!!) and none of his fan base is holding him accountable. He says he’s changed but he did nothing as his fan base…
There were rumors going around and I thought maybe Nakajo-sensei didn't want it and they used her passing as a way to finally make an anime, but from the website it seems like Nakajo-sensei was involved and excited for it. I wish she could have seen the anime ://
