FOUR of the BC Conservative's candidates made donations to the Freedom Convoy 👀 Imagine a Rustad government where any of them became Minister of Health, or Education. It's bananas. We can't let that happen. Don't sit this election out. Get involved. There's too much at stake.

This is a terrible take. If working families, seniors on pensions, students, artists, teachers, nurses, grocery store workers, etc, etc can't afford to live in our cities, our cities will die. Mixed-income communities make life better for all of us.

This is what I saw before the debate last night. It occurred near the intersection of Burrard and Davie. I did not take this photo, it was sent to me. There was an ambulance at the scene when I saw it. My staff walked by as CPR was happening. One lady said “he's overdosed”.

When Canada joined WW2 we shifted the focus of our entire economy in two years. We have experiences to draw on within our own history. We have solutions ready to be implemented and scaled up. And there is momentum. It's time for a made-in-Canada version of the #GreenNewDeal .

Yes Mike. These are the numbers. And they are an embarrassment. You forgot to add that 15 years ago there were: ✅ 224 social housing units The deal the city has with Holborn already has so few teeth. Now ABC wants to knock those teeth out. #VanPoli #LittleMountain

I grew up in Kerrisdale. Since I was a kid, property values have gone way up & the # of residents in the area has decreased. So I'm delighted to see 140 new rental homes approved at 49th & Vine. Allowing more people to call this beautiful, walkable neighbourhood home. #VanPoli

Last night on @vancolour Mayor Sim said Vancouver is still a #LivingWage employer. Odd that the org who certifies Living Wage employers, @LWforfamilies , disagrees. Call me old fashioned, but I think politicians should tell the truth. And be accountable for their decisions.

Vancouver City Council voted to end its status as a @LWforfamilies employer. I voted to keep it. People who work for the City of Vancouver should be able to afford to live here. That’s what a #LivingWage means. @OneCityVan stands behind it. TAKE ACTION:

Fact check: ✅ 54 social housing units already built ✅ 60 social housing units under construction ✅ 131 social housing to break ground in 2024 ✅ 48 social housing units c/o @CitofVancouver breaking ground this year. ~1600 homes centrally located will be built. No more

A Michael Scott moment from Vancouver 's mayor: Ken Sim: "I'm just basing it on my own background and how I feel..." Reporter: "Hold on. You're basing this on a feeling, not because you've crunched any numbers?" Sim: "No no. Look. It's not my job to crunch numbers."

The vast majority of traffic deaths & serious injuries are preventable. So people have every right to be upset when an 80yo is killed while crossing the street. And channelling that fear & anger into advocacy for safer streets for everyone is GOOD. We should all want that.

Much of the backlash online from this decision was violent and hateful. It was a reminder of how important it is to ensure trans people are safe and that their humanity is affirmed. I am a feminist. My feminism includes trans people. My liberation is linked to theirs.

I propose the following order of land use priorities: 1. Housing people who don't have homes. 2 - 99+. Parks, public spaces, splash pads, childcare, public transit, overdose prevention sites, employment spaces, arts spaces, so many other things. 100. Extra space to store cars.

Last minute changes from @Vote4ABC to prioritize two-way vehicle traffic on Beach Ave (west of Denman). And punt the best parts of the plan (public washrooms, well lit public spaces, accessible pathways to the water) down the road. That's the opposite of what ppl asked for. 😩

Boyle speaking eloquently about the poor governance of bringing such a huge amendment without notice to other councilors (presumably ABC councilors saw this though), how this is inconsistent with the city's climate and active transpo goals. She's right!

Yes, let's review #ViewCones . But view cones aren't stopping us from allowing 4-6 story rental & coop housing across the whole city. I don't want #TallAndSprawl . I want #CommunitiesForAll . That's what taking the housing crisis seriously requires.

In this election, progressive parties ran too many candidates. Progressive voters were faced with too many good choices. We split the vote. And now we see the result: the first right-wing government Vancouver has seen in over a decade. 13/
