My next book, "The Age of Mammals," now has a cover, blurb, and catalogue entry! It's about how extinct mammals were reconstructed and understood in the 19C, and how this affected views of nature, the environment and history Out with @UPittPress in June

@TheMuseumOfLiz Wow, never seen those before! There's not much 20th century French palaeoart generally, so these are definitely exceptional in a number of ways

@dr_r_fallon Always sad to see these things go at auction though, rather than be given to an accessible collection....

@katherineschof8 I'd say "in press" means everything has been done with it and you're just waiting for it to be printed/released, while "forthcoming" means that publication has been fully agreed but there is still a bit more minor work to do (like editor/copy-editor queries and going over proofs)

@LeMoustier @WillTattersdill It's very early - the usage has definitely come in during the 1800s (as in the decade), and then becomes more prevalent from then on

Still another six months to go until the book is available (via UCL Press as an open access publication!), but we now have a catalogue page and a cover - by @MarkWitton, and featuring Gertie the Dinosaur in centre stage

@Dave_Hone @dr_r_fallon Hah! Also, despite the title, the article itself is only partly about dinosaurs - there's a huge amount of discussion of Synapsids, and other Permian and Triassic beasties (including Longisquama)

@Bhmllr Thought as much! Mapping the Central Asiatic Expedition specimens would also be an interesting project...

@Bhmllr Wow that's really interesting! Intrigued by the Mongolian Protoceratops in the 1946-1960 map. Is that coming direct, or via New York or the USSR? (or somewhere else?)

@bawdynan @RSmythFreelance For cheap-ish (I think £10 adult, £5 child), then the Thames clipper from Battersea to Greenwich takes in lots of the tourist sites, and is a fun boat ride

@victoriacoules @UoBrisArtHist @forarthistory Oooh, that's interesting - had never seen it before! Apparently it's original title is "L'ombre terrestre" and it's now in Tenerife. There's an account of it here (in Spanish):
