Insane tornado video!! Best one I've seen today and pretty close. This was at Fort Sam Houston near I-35 & New Braunfels gate.

About 50 trucks waiting in line to replenish inventory at HEB warehouse early this morning. I tip my cap to them all & all those keeping our community going.
🎥 Roland Cortez sent me video.

Just grilling hotdogs on the car dashboard in San Antonio. 104 air temp today. Dashboard reached peak temp of 182 degrees. At least, highest I measured while trying to keep car door closed as much as possible. Cook time just under 2 hours
Whoa! Definite tornado earlier, about an hour ago. Per Michael Soriano, he was driving north on I-37 near downtown & looking northeast

I really don't have the words. Hurricane Iota coming into Nicaragua in nearly the exact same spot as Hurricane Eta which hit 2 weeks ago. Eta was strong cat 4, Iota is a cat 5 hurricane

It's official. Yesterday's giant or gorilla size hailstone in Johnson City is the 2nd largest hailstone verified by the National Weather Service in Texas. State record remains the Hondo hailstone from 2021

Giant hail video from Allende in Mexico (west of Maverick County). Wait for it around 20sec mark when hailstone slams into pavement

I always get a kick out of watching our bat colonies show up on radar as they fly out for the night. This is the Bracken Bat Colony heading out for dinner. Large colony of some 15 - 20 million bats 🦇 🦇

A nightmare scenario unfolding tonight for Acapulco. Not sure how many residents would have evacuated as Otis was a tropical storm this morning. In 12-13hrs time, now a cat 5 hurricane & per latest images, could even be a little stronger. Keep them in your prayers tonight
What a blessing this tropical low has been for south Texas battling drought conditions. This is a radar loop of past 36 hours as system moved inland

Friendly reminder for those new to San Antonio & Texas. While we're enjoying mild 60s & 70s in our area, this is actually where you are. Signs of winter returning next 1 to 2 weeks...
#txwx
Strongest cold front of the season ahead for Texas next Monday. Might even see a wintry mix in the Panhandle. Arrives in San Antonio later in the day Monday. Big temperature drop into Halloween Tuesday with patchy rain possible too behind front in our region
Brutal! Clouds of Mt Cedar pollen being released in TX Hill Country. Today’s count is over 18,000. Hang in there!

Many questions asking if the arctic cold blast ahead will be like 2021 again. Absolutely NOT. If you'll remember, the entire state was under a Winter Storm Warning in Feb. 2021 and in San Antonio, we stayed below freezing for 4 days & 11 hours
Very strong signals on arctic air mass paying us a visit early next week. Nights in teens - 20s in our area. Unseasonably cold afternoons.
This cold front arrives either late Sunday to early Monday

Snow in the Hill Country. This was earlier this morning just outside of Barksdale in southeast Edwards County

If stores are sold out of outdoor faucet covers/containers, yes, the large Whataburger cup can work.
Fill with insulating material & securely fasten. Better than nothing in arctic freeze in protecting pipes

Sheeesh... love to see ensemble mean data (EPS) showing 500% or more of normal rainfall in our region and chunk of Texas - "in late July". This is through Friday of next week
Hope these data trends hold. We need it!

Ink on a leaf zooming around a puddle.
The ink has a lower surface tension than water, creating a surface tension gradient that pulls the leaf forward, a phenomenon known as the Marangoni effect.
Always love seeing our bats picked up on radar heading out through sunset. Bracken Bat Colony seen here as they leave cave in massive numbers

Yes please! Anytime we can get below normal temperatures in September in our region, take it and run. This is the 6 - 10 day temperature outlook from CPC
I mean pinch me now! After last two summers, can’t ask for much more. This is the 6 - 10 day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) covering July 20 - 24th 🤠

College football Saturday across Texas!! Some big games this weekend. A few showers or storms could impact some of the games or the tailgate before the game. UTSA playing indoors at the Alamodome
In-house computer model Tuesday morning. Seen here, likely tropical depression or even a low end tropical storm as model attempts to quickly organize and strengthen system upon reaching the coast & moving over land
My part of town has NO power overnight, so w/ my kids trying to sleep under piles of blankets, I checked downtown SA to see if anyone’s paying attention to Mayor

Talk about a model run flip! Last run, ICON had 71 in San Antonio and now has 34 Sunday afternoon. Arctic air masses are notoriously underestimated on speed & strength especially in southern latitudes.
It has caught my eye, does have some ensemble support admittedly.

Haven't seen a 7-day rainfall forecast like this in a long time in our area and Texas! From the Weather Prediction Center (WPC)
Bring it! We need it

One more ridiculously cold image from the historic arctic deep freeze of 2021. Wind chills below zero were surging into deep south Texas.
Hope I never see this again in my lifetime. I don't mind some winter cold and even a little snow but that was insane
Getting closer! Here's what you will see when viewing Saturday's Annular Solar Eclipse and at what time. Make sure you're viewing this eclipse with ISO compliant solar eclipse glasses
