Last night we said goodbye to SR Fire Chief Tony Gossner, who after 30 years with the department - 6 as Chief - will be retiring next week. Tony helped lead us through our darkest days and was a unifying figure for our community in 2017 and again here in 2020. Best wishes, Tony!

The city of SR Fire Department has officially declared the end of the 2021 wildfire season in SR. Santa Rosa received roughly 11 inches of rain in the month of October and the threat of significant fires in the community has been minimized. Read more:

Welcome to the newest additions to the City Bus fleet! Today, our first two all-electric buses rolled onto the lot, with two more en route. We have another five ordered, and have the funding for another five after that. SR is leading the way in electrifying our public transit.

Comcast is reporting a significant internet outage across Santa Rosa - a couple of fiber lines were accidentally cut during construction. Their crews are on site splicing hundreds of strands of fiber back together, but it is still likely to be 6+ hours until it is resolved.

POLICY UPDATE 2: Last year I pulled our landscape management contract off consent and asked staff to bring it back glyphosate free. Today, they delivered. At no extra cost to the public, the City of Santa Rosa has removed the use of glyphosate from our public spaces.

Welcome to the world, Ellis James! Our son was born this morning at 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and 21.5’’ in length. Mom is as healthy as can be expected after 62 hours of labor and surgery. She’s amazing … and rightfully exhausted. Ellis is perfect and healthy as well.
