What in the world just happened? Why were all the fish dead? Here’s a short thread as to how our latest paper, the last of my PhD at @yale_eeb, came to be by starting at the beginning.

@Lisamarieeeo @UF_CLAS @WCFF_org @CENFLO @AmandaSubalusky @UF @UFBiology I didn't know either. But, Lauren and Michel did a wonderful job! I'm sure my daughters won't believe it when I tell them that a story about our research was played in a movie theater. 😁

In Czechia beavers built a dam in 2 days, which local authorities had been planning for 7 years The animals saved the administration $1.2 million. A project to restore wetlands in the Brdy Landscape Park had been in development since 2018. Over the years, the administration gathered all the necessary permits and was ready to begin construction. But it turned out to be unnecessary—local beavers, which have lived in the park since 2020, took matters into their own hands, building dams in the required locations. "The beavers saved us 30 million Czech korunas. They built the dams without any project documentation—and for free," said the head of the nature reserve administration.

Yea....I just ordered a few liters. Sergii's stuff is awesome.
If you work with RNA, you know the chore: wiping everything with a $200-$300/L RNase decontaminant… which is basically sodium hydroxide, bleach, and surfactant. Fair price, right? Introducing “Sergi’s RNase Polite Excuser” (pronounce it with a British accent!)
