Another car saved from the ULEZ extension. This time, a Kia Pride, affectionately called ‘Beryl’ after the first owner. The lady I bought it off, Lindy, inherited the car back in the 90s. She was very sad to see it go, but is pleased it will live on. Only has 24,000 miles on it:

Took a trip to Muswell Hill to collect a Renault 19. Acquired through me leaving a note. The one and only owner, a very sweet 94 year old lady gave up driving, and was planning on sending the car for scrap, so her and daughter were glad it could live on. Passed an MOT yesterday:

A local collectors house is now being cleared. I chatted to the tree surgeon working there. He said the cars need to be sold/scrapped. Most are pretty far gone, but I’m happy to pass on contact to anyone who wants a brave project or parts. I am going to pop back over for a chat:

Picked this little gem up today. A 1988 Toyota Starlet affectionally known as “My Pretty Car” (due the last three letters of the numberplate!). The owner, Helen, had to get rid because of ULEZ. She was glad she didn’t have to scrap the car. More photos to come after a good clean:

New arrival. Due to some mechanical niggles, it was going to be scrapped. I couldn’t allow that, so I bought it! The Lantra was a very important car for Hyundai, as it showed how Korean cars were becoming serious contenders against European cars. Will be on the road again soon:

Just bought this 1992 Kia Pride LX off the long term owner, Anthony (been in his family since 1994). Was going to be scrapped after the MOT man condemned the car, however it runs wonderfully and the work needed is all very fixable. More photos to come after it gets a good polish:

Noted this Rover. Lady called me saying she’s given up driving so needs to sell. Had been sitting for 18 months, but after a new battery, started first time. Passed an MOT, then in true K series style the head gasket blew. Unsure what’s next, but will make certain it lives on:

Spoke to the owner of this wonderful 1978 Honda Accord last week. He has owned the car from new and says the main reason why it has survived for so long is that he gave it extra rust proofing straight after purchase. He is very fond of it and has no plans to get rid:

Another rarity saved from the ULEZ extension coming in later this month. I noted this early Renault Laguna in January. The owner, a very nice elderly gentleman, Ronald, kept my note and phoned me saying it has to go. After owning it since 1995, he was sad to see the car go:

Latest save! Was going to be scrapped because of the ULEZ extension in October and a leaky radiator. The long term owner got my note under the wiper and asked if I was still interested. I of course was, so I got his local garage to fit a new radiator, and I drove it home today:

I was given this Hyundai X2 Pony last year. It had been off the road for eight years when the owner gave up driving. The car was cosmetically rough and looked like a daunting project. Despite this, I soldiered on and (with the help of some friends) got the car back on the road:

Helped a friend rescue this Yugo Sana today. After passing his number onto the owner a few weeks ago, a deal was struck. It has been off the road since 1996 when the owners mother died. He inherited it and was kept in the garage not moving a wheel until today. 24K on the clock:

Long shot. Noted this Wagon-R for a friend. Owner got back and said they are getting rid, but have been offered 2K on the scrappage scheme plus an extra 1K scrappage grant from Merton council, so to save it, it’ll take a 3K offer. Before you laugh, read on in the comments.
