A fire destroyed their home in the dead of winter, and now they need our help. 🧵 Thread @EmbraceHumanity is happy to help another family in need. This family is currently without a home due to a fire that destroyed theirs. We at Embrace are assisting them in raising the funding necessary to secure temporary housing while they search for an affordable long-term home. They lost everything in the fire and really need the support & encouragement of our amazing and compassionate community. Will you please join us in embracing this family in love and encouragement in their time of great loss, fear, and insecurity? Will you also please consider contributing financially to support their effort to obtain a warm, dry place to stay while they get back on their feet?  Thank you. @ELMAGAIN Please help us help them. Please specify on your donation that it is for Linda so we make sure she gets it. Thank you. ***** "Thanks to Embrace Humanity…we are not homeless or alone." Linda T. ***** This is the story of Linda T. and her family as relayed to members of the Embrace Humanity Team. ***** On Sunday, January 26th, at about 5 AM, my family was awakened abruptly to find our home ablaze with fire. We and our beloved dog barely got out with our lives intact and the clothes on our backs. Our home and all that we hold dear is gone. The fire stole everything. To say that we are in a state of shock and feel completely devastated is an understatement. My name is Linda T. My husband, Harvey, and I are happily retired, and we, along with our 36-year-old disabled son, Lachlan, and our 8-year-old granddaughter, live in the small tourist town of Wellston, Michigan. The town is very small, comparatively, but the community spirit is grand and surrounds us with love and support. Our hears are at home here.  Harvey and I are the grateful grandparents of fifteen children, two of whom are disabled Army veterans. We are incredibly proud of our family, and despite the loss of our material possessions, we consider ourselves rich in the love of our family and truly blessed. ***** “Thanks to Embrace Humanity, we are not alone and homeless. I have never been so blessed by the outpouring of love support…Thank you, and I love you all for getting us through this.” Linda T. ***** The house in which we lived in Wellston was old and located on our son's property. But, while it may have been an older building and it definitely presented us with many of the challenges that come with age, we fixed it to our liking & made it our “home.” Due to circumstances beyond our control, we cannot rebuild at the same location, and, due to the age of the home, we were not able to insure it, leaving us homeless and penniless, so-to-speak. Our future is insecure and we don’t know where we will end up, but what we do know is that we are solely responsible for cleaning up the mess left by the fire and for trying to make the next months as pain free and as easy for our disabled son and our precious little granddaughter as possible. They have suffered so much trauma and loss due to life’s often harsh circumstances as well as from the fire that we want to minimize any further suffering for them if at all possible. For these reasons, we hope to find a new place to live near our current location, but due to the fact that the town is small with few housing options, and because it is a tourist town, the housing that is available is very expensive; beyond what we can afford. We will expand our search for a new home to surrounding areas that are more affordable, and we will try to open our minds to out of the box opportunities. But, this is all new to us, and we certainly would appreciate your prayers for our nerves, our well-being, and our successful search. Living on a retirement budget while caring for our disabled son and raising our granddaughter, in addition to paying for the specialized professional assistance needed... @linndy58
