Commander Bauer had served with the Chicago Police Department for 32 years and served as commander of the 018th District. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

It is just too hot to be outside committing crimes. We’re asking all aspiring criminals, seasoned veterans, & those committing crimes out of boredom, to please stay indoors.
Officers often spend more time at work than they do at home. During the holidays season it is sometimes hard knowing that all of your friends and family are spending time together without you. Community members coming in with decorations helps us remember that people care.
Hi. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jospeh Mark and today I was sworn in as the 009 District Commander. I look forward to meeting everyone in person and working together.
Officers responded to the area 4400 S Wells. Caller indicated a male subject pointed a "Draco" at them while driving by and placed it into a White Dodge Van. Subjects fled on foot and Officers recovered the weapon described and 5 more weapons from the Van. Job well done officers.
It goes without saying that this is not an easy job and it can sometimes feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. I know this has never been more true than it is today.

Thank you Officers for your continued dedication to the community and reuniting a missing with his family. Officer Hall was off duty and saw a Facebook post of a missing elderly Asian man. Officer Hall located him 5 miles away from his home. Thank goodness he was found safe.

9th Dist. Tact team on viewed a car crash 3900 blk of Wentworth. A loaded 9mm Glock with a “Switch” attachment and a drum magazine was recovered. 3 people were placed in custody. Further investigation revealed IL State Police we’re in pursuit of that vehicle for being stolen. 👍🏻
9th District Officers responded to shots fired call and a person with a rifle at 3900 S Wells. 4 offenders were taken into custody and a weapon recovered. Thank you officers for keeping this city safe.

9th Dist. Tactical officers conducted a traffic stop in the 5400 block Damen Ave. Further investigation revealed this vehicle was involved in another incident in the 4600 block Paulina. Suspect taken into custody.

Sweet Avery was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma a stomach cancer on Christmas Day. After her first chemo treatment she was able to go home last night. Avery has 40 more chemo treatments to finish. Officer Szeto stopped by with gifts and warm wishes.
A Chicago firefighter has passed away due to complications from the virus.
Mario Araujo, who served with CFD Truck Company 25 in Rogers Park, was a 17-year veteran of the department, according to officials.

9 Dist. CAPS Officers checked on a senior who did not have an air conditioner or fan durning the heat advisory. Officers purchased him one then complained to management. The senior called officers the next day & said I don’t know what you did but I finally have a air conditioner
On 26 May, a shooting took place near Wentworth Gardens in which a 5 YOA little girl was struck.

9th District tactical officers were in the area at McGuane park due to the high gang conflict and shots fired calls. Officers recovered a weapon after a brief foot chase. A job well done and another dangerous weapon off the streets of chicago.
District Community Officers, Officer Sharp and O’Hara saw 3 young kids between 2-6 yrs old walking alone in the area of 29th/ Normal. There was a language barrier and with the help of Officer To’s language skills he was able to reunite the kids with their family. Job well done

9th Districts Communtiy policing officers and Alderman Cardenas visited Yaneli at the Hospital with gifts. Yaneli was a victim of gun violence on Christmas Eve and is on the road to recovery.
