The #WheelerMansion is the only surviving #historicmansion on Calumet Avenue. It was built in 1870 & after being renovated, is now a boutique hotel with 11 guest rooms and suites. In 1998, it was designated a Chicago Landmark. #Chicago #architecture

The #Chicago Board of Trade building houses an expansive vault in the basement which has sat empty for decades. The vault has secured many items of importance throughout its long history, such as trading receipts, silver bars & 1000s of steel lock boxes.

Edgewater Beach Apartments is the only remaining part of the Edgewater Beach Hotel complex, started by Marshall and Fox in 1918. This massive, Spanish-style “Pink Palace” was connected to the hotel by a three-block beach promenade for decades.

John Moutoussamy is one of Chicago's most important architects of the postwar era. A graduate of IIT, he was the first Black architect to be made a partner in a large Chicago firm in 1966. Some of his buildings include the Johnson Publishing Company and Harry S. Truman College.
