It’s not every day the Mayor of Greater Manchester conducts an orchestra! 😆We think
@AndyBurnhamGM
did a fantastic job during his visit to Chetham’s today - what do you reckon? 👏
We're delighted to announce the appointment of Tom Redmond as Director of Music from 2019. Tom succeeds Stephen Threlfall in the role, and looks forward to guiding the music programme at our unique school into its second half century.
We're reflecting on a wonderful

Our Lower School orchestra started rehearsing it on the same day in 2022!
Shia is doing an amazing job of the iconic clarinet solo that starts it off, we can't for the concert! 👏
“Whatever you’re doing, give it your all. Life’s much better that way”.
Advice from

The end of term brings both joy and sadness as we say goodbye to the legendary David Chatterton, Head of Brass and Percussion, who retires after an incredible 40 years at Chetham's. We will miss him deeply 💔💫 Thank you for everything.

We often have reason to celebrate our students. But today let’s celebrate the mums - the ones who plan our first music lessons, our first practice supervisors, taxi drivers and audiences, who challenge and encourage us to believe in what we can be. Thanks, mums.
For the mums and dads whose children are joining us for the first time this weekend - we look forward to working with you as they grow into exceptional young adults like Beth, Johan & Michael, who leave us this autumn after 8 superb years
