"All of science boils down to is trying to do things in order to see and appreciate the world in a new way." I may not point fancy science cameras at adorable moths like @DrAdrianSmith, but my data shows that electrons are hopping between molecules. The world is fascinating!

The beauty of bubbles. #research can be very visually striking and fascinating sometimes! Getting rid of unwanted Oxygen by bubbeling my probe with Argon before an experiment was one of those times. Thanks to my colleague @chemdavis for capturing the moment. :) #scicommuu21

Dyes are the butter to my bread (Nickel oxide) in my research. Though I really wouldn't recommend eating either of the two. The image fits though - porous NiO is the support for organic dyes, such as this beautiful one, synthezised by my talented colleague, Bin. #scicommuu21
Bin Cai's research focuses on finding dyes that can efficiently convert sunlight to electricity for use in dye sensitized solar cells. He’s investigating whether this dark material can absorb sunlight efficiently. Learn more about this #CENChemPics 📸

Interested to see what such a spectroelectrochemistry experiment looks like? Look no further! Working in reasearch has taught me to let myself be creative and build things I need - just like this cell. What have you built? #scicommUU21

Spectroelectrochemistry is one of the main methods used in my current project. It allows me look at the change in a material's optical properties upon the application of a potential. This means I can follow processes that happen "visually" in real time! #scicommUU21

This just goes to show why taking your kids (and yourself) outside matters. And participating in science outreach - because I refuse to accept that younger generations simply grow up being deprived of seeing the wonders in this world. #scicommuu21

As a student working at the @tian_lab, I get to research how charges travel across a dye-sensitised NiO surfaces. This gives us more insight and information to build p-type dye-sensitised solar cells for the future! #scicommUU21
