@Malcolm25805126 @BeginsHistory Robert is certainly present in our archival record and there are still members of the school community that remember him. His legacy will not be forgotten.

I think we can all agree that it has rained a lot of late. This poem from The Carthusian October 1905 edition expertly captures the love-hate relationship we may have about the rain. #Archive #ExploreYourArchive #SchoolArchive #SchoolArchives

And just like that another year comes to an end. Heading home is a universal experience shared by all our pupils past and present, although the modes of transport today are slightly more modern. We wish all our pupils a happy and relaxing summer break. #SchoolArchive

After the School moved from London to our current location in the Surrey, our pupils were able to access and enjoy activities in the great outdoors. The Bathing Place, located on the river Wey was used for swimming soon after the School moved to Godalming in 1872. #EYAOutside

Today is the 80th anniversary of D-Day. On this day we remember Old Carthusian Lt. Michael Burness, killed while attacking a gun battery behind Sword Beach. #dday #SwordBeach #dday80

We are bringing some colour today with these eye-catching designs by former pupil Owen Jones (1809-1874). These hand painted drawings form part of a body of work that went on to be published in 'The Grammar of Ornament' in 1856. #colourfularchives #Archive30

And just like that our pupils now head home for the Easter holidays. This photograph captures our pupils with their luggage as they wait to be collected. It is a scene which is largely unchanged to this day. #SchoolArchive #ExploreYourArchive #HistoryBeginsatHome

Most of our grounds are designed and maintained to provide space for our pupils to take part in a myriad of sports. Here are some of the sporting activities our pupils took part in during over the years. #GroundsWeek

We wouldn't have our magnificent grounds it wasn't for the team that work tirelessly to maintain our wonderful surroundings. This image from c. 1888-1889 captures some of the employees (and horse) who would have helped to maintain the School's grounds. #GroundsWeek

It's time to see our glorious grounds from above. This photograph was taken in 1952 and just shows the scale of our campus and how much greenspace we are lucky to have. #GroundsWeek #Schoolarchive #SchoolHistory #ExploreYourArchive #Archives

This week is Grounds Week so it seems fitting to share a selection of images of our grounds over the years. Kicking things off with this image from c.1884 of Founder's Court. Bonus point for spotting the dog in the foreground! #GroundsWeek #ExploreYourArchive

Continuing our exploration through our collections to celebrate British Science Week we now turn our attention to exams. Here is an example of a physics examination paper sat by our students in 1874. #BSW2024 #britishscienceweek2024 #ExploreYourArchive
