@RCPLondon Such sad and shocking news. Donal was a brilliant and supportive colleague, who was clearly skilled in bringing out the best in people and dedicated to his job. What a great loss. Sending love to RCP and Donal’s friends and family x

@adamgordon1978 I mean she was in the cellar on the previous page- but I’m probably cheating as I currently read this about 20 times a day at the moment!!

@DrJulietReid Hi Juliet, sorry for late reply. Please send me a DM and we could perhaps arrange a time to catch up properly?

@Shaun_LDNurse @samabdulla @PaulaHopes1 @PaulaMc007 @NorthMidNHS @DavidHarling1 @jimgblair @CNOEngland Agree. There is lots of current work via HEE looking at development of existing roles as well as innovative roles- primary focus at the moment seems to be the advance practitioner course

@Shaun_LDNurse @PaulaMc007 @DavidHarling1 @jimgblair @CNOEngland I totally agree. It’s a sad state of affairs. Which is why it’s important for different disciplines to work together to try to improve things- we’ve all got to keep chipping away

@samabdulla @PaulaHopes1 @PaulaMc007 @Shaun_LDNurse @NorthMidNHS @DavidHarling1 @jimgblair @CNOEngland Good point. This is the only post (that i am aware of). Recruitment will be a real challenge & hence the need for formal training programme & publicity. Think it will take years and years to get the role established nationally. But got to start somewhere!

@Shaun_LDNurse @PaulaMc007 @DavidHarling1 @jimgblair @CNOEngland There is much more focus on promoting advance practitioners & as you say we are years off having established ID physicians. I’m sure you will agree that given consistent #LeDeR findings we can’t have too many well trained enthusiastic staff passionate about giving excellent care
