Let’s rethink “busyness” in 2025. It often distracts us from what truly matters and fuels a culture where constant activity = success. Time to prioritise meaning over motion, and focus on what really counts. #LessBusyMorePurpose #MindfulLiving
At the beginning of the year, I'm reflecting on "busyness". It's an affliction for many of us. Being busy means we don't have time for things that really matter to us or we miss important opportunities. Some organisations view busyness as a marker of leadership success. Busyness may also meet our psychological need for validation, self-worth, avoiding emotions &/or staying in control. Eight years ago, I was campaigning for #BursaryOrBust, believing we could protect nursing’s future. The pandemic showed nurses’ value, but reality has set back in. Nursing isn’t unattractive because it’s hard—it’s hard because it’s undervalued. Support must reflect the work.
