Tyson’s first points of the game came on this emphatic slam. He uses a shot fake and then gets by his defender to get baseline for a dunk. He doesn’t have the most explosive first step, but he gets to his spots well with his footwork, pace, and fundamentals.

🧵 Yesterday, Ausar Thompson had his breakout game of Summer League. The #5 selection in the draft absolutely stuffed the stat sheet and made countless impactful plays on both ends. He had 17 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. A thread on his game… 🎥⬇️

Again for Dillon Brooks. This one was straight off of a vertical jump from AD. He had no momentum; he just springs up to reject this one.

2011: South Sudan became a country. 2017: South Sudan played first FIBA game. 2023: South Sudan is in the FIBA World Cup. If the tournament ended today, they would finish 18th. They have NBA talent: Carlik Jones, Wenyen Gabriel, Marial Shayok (G-League). A meteoric rise. 🇸🇸

His opening Summer League points came on this transition three, his first three in his 4-7 showing from beyond the arc. At Northwestern, Audige took more threes off of the dribble, which dragged his 3PT% down to 32.5% in his senior year. He looked comfortable on catch & shoots.

Ja Morant is one of the lethal downhill players in the league, and AD (1) made it more difficult for Morant to get to the rim and (2) made shots super difficult for him. Morant hit 26% of his shots from 4-14 feet, down from 43% in the regular season.

Nikola Jovic's perfect 25 point, 121.1 TS% (9-9 FG, 5-5 3P, 2-2 FT) game in the FIBA World Cup is the most efficient 25+ point performance in a major FIBA event* over the last decade. The next most efficient 25+ point FIBA game over the last decade was a 103.9 TS%. Pure hooper.

The *next possession* after the three, Audige perfectly navigates these off ball screens and gets into Max Christie’s body. Christie wants nothing to do with it and gives the ball up. Christie had 6 of the Lakers’ 10 points up to this point. Big defensive play to slow him down.

Like mentioned earlier, AD doesn’t need to block shots to affect them. Look at how he is able to force a kiss from Desmond Bane here.

It’s definitely too little, too late, but ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What a shot. The cross back after initially going left and getting to the step back without a break in his motion. Bucket. Having this in his bag is impressive. It won’t be seen often, but it’s there.

When drafted by Miami, Jovic was around 220 pounds. Now, he’s 240. His thinner frame that was once a concern has now become weaponized as a strength. He is a force in transition at this size with the ability to move like a guard. Note that nice change of direction to get fouled.
