I noticed that nobody really uses defend in RPG fights so I'll give you a reason in Hazuki Dies
You can reduce damage by pressing a button when an enemy attack lands
But if you defend AND hit the button on time, you take no damage and make your turn happen faster

So me teaching TJ Henry Yoshi the basic controls of the game, endless repetitions of practicing the same combo, frequent taunting to replenish meter to try supers, and many timeovers due to practicing moves out of range is considered a top level play on Fightcade
