Native to the Malaysian Archipelago, the crocodile fern commonly grows at the base of trees, under the forest canopy in its native habitat. It gets its name from the vein pattern in its leaves, which closely resembles the back of a crocodile!

The recent springtime temperatures have been perfect for a Zoo Visit! The botanical gardens are beginning to flourish, and our perching macaws have been enjoying the warmer weather as guests stroll by. Did you know that many of our animals enjoy people-watching?

Boone, the cougar, recently got some new updates to his habitat to give him some assistance as he ages gracefully, including a large scrub brush to help him with grooming himself, and larger platform-style steps for a gentler grade up to his treehouse.

The male African pygmy goose is one of the smallest waterfowl in the world. Our male, Kimchi, likes to splash around in the water as he preens. This helps him to distribute the water-resistant oils on his feathers.
