We recently participated in a ribbon cutting for The Community Closet, an emergency food pantry located at Poughkeepsie Middle School. Central Hudson donated $10,000 to the Poughkeepsie Farm Project to facilitate the ongoing supply of fresh produce to The Community Closet on our behalf. The Community Closet will serve as a resource for families in crisis who may need help closing the gaps between other assistance programs. Poughkeepsie City School District is striving to expand its food pantry services and has a goal to open a second location this spring.

BALANCE. It’s what our Budget Billing program provides. When you sign up for Budget Billing, your energy costs are spread throughout the year. This reduces the impact when your energy usage is highest – typically during the coldest and hottest months of the year – by spreading those costs across seasons when usage is lower. The result is a more consistent, predictable monthly energy bill. Learn more and sign up at

Today, we reflect on the legacy of a man who shared a dream that continues to inspire our nation: to bring justice where there is injustice, freedom where there is oppression, peace where there is violence and opportunity where there is poverty. Today, we honor the life of the great Martin Luther King, Jr. #martinlutherkingjrday

We salute Central Hudson Senior Telecomm Systems Designer Will Hiemcke who raised more than $6,400 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this year while completing the "Dopey Challenge" running event at Walt Disney World last weekend. The Dopey Challenge requires running a 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon on consecutive days – 48.6 miles total. Hiemcke has been raising funds since 2013 to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. He does it to honor friends who succumbed to cancer and their families and to support those still fighting the battle. Great job, Will!
