Hey, Michael Arndt here, and now I'm going to be talking about the mentor aria. The mentor aria is where your hero, who is embarking on this journey, meets a mentor figure, someone who's going to guide them through the rest of the story and usually that mentor figure gives them a speech - and aria - in which they talk about how to see the world. Check out my YouTube video where I break down lessons from my own scripts and some timeless classics. I share tips, examples, and insights that I think will really help you!

Hello, I'm Michael Arndt and I'm back here to talk about midpoints! The midpoint is one of the most overlooked but crucial parts of a screenplay. Itās where your story takes a turn, raises the stakes, and keeps the audience engaged for the second half. Without a strong midpoint, the middle of your story can drag, and thatās the last thing you want. If you havenāt already, check out my YouTube channel! In one video, I dive into the importance of the midpoint and how it drives your story forward. Go take a lookāIād love to hear what you think!

Hey, Michael Arndt here again! Your audience connects to characters who feel human. Give your hero clear wants, flaws, and challenges, and let them grow through the story. A strong character arc shows where your hero starts, what they struggle with, and how they transform by the end. Itās about putting your characters in situations that challenge their flaws and force them to make meaningful choices. Check out my YouTube video where I break down lessons from my own scripts and some timeless classics. I share tips, examples, and insights that I think will really help you!

Hey, Michael Arndt here! The first act is the foundation of your story. Itās where you introduce the world, your characters, and the stakes. If you can get this part right, the rest of your screenplay has a solid foundation to build on. Your first act should do three key things: set the tone of your story, establish whatās at stake, and end with an inciting incident that propels your hero into action. The goal is to pull your audience in and make them care about what happens next. If you want to go deeper into the elements of a great first act, check out my YouTube video where I break it all down in more detail. I cover everything from crafting a strong setup to creating an inciting incident that grabs your audience. Give it a watchāI think youāll find it helpful!
