HS baseball players: Many of you might fool coaches in a showcase atmosphere, look the part in a uniform, have good actions, but at some point you’ll need to learn how to perform in games. In game reps are irreplaceable and help more than any other tool, period.

Tough day for a lot of people yesterday. We knew it was coming, but when the word officially arrived and I saw the disappointment and tears in our players eyes, it was devastating. They work so hard and care so much...it's difficult to know the right thing to say.

Tough day in the baseball world. Ed Sprague Sr., who impacted countless lives, passed away. He was an amazing man that exuded confidence and care. I am privileged to have known him and lucky to have played for his son. Prayers go out to the Sprague family and friends.

I get a lot of parents asking about good camps/showcases to attend. Players, if you don’t have a skill to showcase, save some 💴 and simply get better. If you don’t know if you have a skill, ask a coach. If you want baseline numbers for “good enough to showcase,” ask me.

One of the best hitters in the MLB. I don’t know who scouted Alejandro Kirk, but I respect you for taking a chance and not going after the prototypical “toolsy” or “projectable” guy. Just a good player that’s gonna help you win games. These guys fall through the cracks too often.

My wife and I looked through old pics today. As many college players graduate today, remember to enjoy the journey. I am grateful for all of my teammates and coaches throughout the years. Those are experiences that don’t come back. This was my last college game with my boys.
