Still playing mind games with myself daily, and that retched voice that tells me I'm just overreacting whispers in my ear, "You aren't an alcoholic. You can have just one. Everyone else drinks. You think you're better than everyone else? Prideful sinner! Drink!"
67 days sober:
I've started to see what my face actually looks like without the redness and inflammation from alcohol. Not to sound conceited (after all, I have nothing to do with it, God made my face, not me), but I keep catching my reflection and thinking, woah, I'm beautiful.
92 days sober:
All praise and glory be to Jesus Christ and to Our Father in Heaven and to the Holy Spirit.
Words cannot sufficiently describe how much joy and peace have filled my heart and how much my life has improved since the Lord put it on my heart to quit drinking.
102 days sober:
It's my birthday today, 32 years. This celebration will be a bit different than years past. My husband surprised me with a bicycle, and I'm excited to take it out for a ride this evening.
Thank you, Lord, for another year, another day, and for my sobriety.
My son just came in and threw up all over me. I guess we aren't going to mass today. We'll probably watch my brother say mass later online, but it's just not the same.
So, when you're at mass later, please pray for everyone around the world who wants to go to mass but can not.

It's getting easier, but realizing alcohol wasn't the problem but only a symptom is a little rough. I'm starting to realize what sort of wounds I was trying to cover up with booze instead of trusting that God has already covered them with His most precious blood.
This is why I think people are mad at Butker.
Butker said one of the most important titles a woman can ever have is homemaker. Ten or twenty years ago, he would have been accused of pandering for this. Today, it makes him some sort of evil misogynist. ...
@Joeinblack
Oh, Jesus! I love you. I needed to read this today.
Thank you, Fr Krupp. Man, I am so grateful that Jesus put you and your podcast in my path. You really don't know how many times He has used you to encourage me on this walk when this cross is baring down on me.
Thanks, Jesus.
@RussNRoses
You make it sound like being over 30 is a huge deal, lol.
Don't worry, God will get you where He wants you to go (even if that's after 30 😉). Just keep praying and trusting Him. If He wants you to become Catholic, He'll get you there.
God bless you and keep you always.
@KneelForOurKing
Pear is behaving like a gender flipped version of a male feminist white knight. It is clear that she doesn't have a well-formed philosophy, but instead only says what she believes men want to hear while simultaneously casting them as the damsels that only she can rescue.
@Joeinblack
I said out load in an exasperated and desperate tone, "Oh Lord Jesus, please. I have to mow today. Please, pleeease, let this rain just go around us."
Right then, and if He was answering me, the clouds broke suddenly, and a flash of sunlight flooded the street.
Thanks, Jesus.
Almost finished with Jesus; I've been working on this one for about a year and a half. It's so close to being finished; I think I'll finish it and put the top coat on it tonight of tomorrow. Then, I'll keep working on The Duel and start on my next two pieces very soon.
@Joeinblack
Tiny little story that may even sound silly to some:
I've been running around getting the house in order to welcome my husband home after a six month deployment. The day before yesterday, I was loading my kids into the car in the driveway to go to the grocery store. ...
It's not really about misogyny, though, is it?
It's about womanhood. Our culture despises womanhood; it degrades it. For several decades, we have been conditioned ironically by feminism (a Marxist ideology) to believe all things feminine to be inferior. ...
We can choose to listen to the sweet voice of Our Lady and the call to battle, take up our cross and grab our rosaries, or we can cower before the screaming banshees and the wailing and gnashing of teeth, roll over, and accept defeat as our houses fall and fade away.
Ave Maria!
@RehumanizeMaria
When I came back to the church, my husband and I had to get our marriage convalidated; they wanted us to do marriage prep. I told them that six years, a mortgage, and two children had prepared us pretty well. The deacons wife did not laugh. The priest, on the other hand, agreed.
This solidifies it for me. Pearl is a troll cyop. She is either being paid or is just too dense to realize she's being manipulated. Do you really think it's a coincidence that a supposed "right wing" group is embracing Marxist ideals and attacking Catholics in an election year?
In today's culture, a woman can only be equal to a man if she sheds that fatal illness called feminity and instead takes on the tastes, lifestyle, roles, responsibilities, and behaviors of a man. If she fails to do so, she will sure be a weak, feeble-mindled doormat, slave. ...
45 days Sober:
I had a dream that I went to a convince store with an old friend. I walked past beer, past wine, past liquor, to get non-alcoholic seltzer. I definitely noticed the alcohol, but I still chose to avoid it.
I think this is a sign that my subconscious is on board.
@Joeinblack
@EricRSammons
I've seen others express this sentiment, and I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed by it.
For one, it seems pharisaic.
And two, it doesn't make sense theologically. The God that was worshipped in that temple is our God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost regardless of who knows it.
They aren't angry at Harrison Butker for his "misogyny." They are angry that women are starting to see the lies we've been sold for so long for what they are. They are angry that we are reclaiming the truth, goodness, and beauty of that glorious gift from God called feminity. ...
If you think a dog loves you more than a human being could ever love you, you aren't interested in love but control.
Dogs are great, but they can only offer a shallow obedient "love."
Love (v.) is to will the good of the other for the sake of the other.
A dog just wants food.
I wrote a rough draft to a pilot episode for a Catholic sitcom. I'm honestly just tired of every show glamorizing and normalizing abhorrent behavior. I wish there were fun shows to watch that didn't contain material that is not at all suitable for the whole family.
It's disappointing to see practicing Catholics and especially those in religious life or members of the clergy support or even identify themselves with sin.
Admitting to concupiscense with repentance is very different than justifying acting upon it or naming yourself by it.
I want to clear something up.
I pray the rosary; I carry one with me at all times. I recognize that this prayer is a powerful weapon.
But no human being on earth is my enemy. Many may perceive me (and what I stand for) as their enemy, but believe me, the feeling is not mutual.

It has come to my attention that drinking was only a symptom of an underlying ailment, the deadly sin of acedia. The desire to be anywhere else than where I am and to be anyone else other than who I am is a rejection of God's will for me.
Lord, have mercy on me.
Rejecting feminism and redpill, while being pro-women and pro-men, makes me unpopular on X these days.
Men and women are different.
We are not interchangeable.
Both are indispensable.
Both bear the imago dei.
Man up, lads. Woman up, ladies.
Virtue awaits, and God is calling.
@Jesus23222
This argument always punches me right in the biologically informed peeves.
Our education system is utterly failing people, and it's so hard to watch.
Okay. Now, it's finished. I think I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I don't know what Jesus looked like, but I think this is how He looks at us.
"By the Sea of Galilee" by Murph Johnson (2024)
May 11, 2024. A Catholic stands before a Catholic audience. He gives a message to a group of faithful Catholic women, a group of feminine shieldmaidens suited up in the armor of God and flying the battle banner of Our Lady, ready for the spiritual battle that lies ahead. ...
Apparently, this is a group of young wives and mothers who make videos showing how they enjoy housework and dressing well. It's not how I would personally spend my time, but fine. There are far worse things to put online, and encouraging full-time homemakers is nice. ...
@RussNRoses
There really isn't a way to say for sure. St. Thomas Aquinas in the Summa Theologica suggests that the angels don't merely outnumber all humans throughout history but that there are likely more angels than there are material things in the universe.
Butker isn't the first to find himself the target of the feminist ire. We've seen recently, within the past couple of years, that there was a different threat to the status quo, not a man but a group of young women, the "tradwives." ...
He sees you. You're not alone. He loves you and wants what's best for you. You aren't your worst decisions, and you aren't your addiction. You are His beloved child. You got this.
God bless you and keep you always.
So likes are private now...
Some one explain to me how am I going to communicate that I am actually replying in a friendly tone rather than with the hostility and distasteful snideness that is extremely prevalent online?
@MootePoints
Oh no! Not the hand's maid's tale nonsense clipped in over it 💀
Good grief, man. You know you're diluted when you think a woman having the freedom to raise her own children in a home she has made her own with a husband who loves her is analogous to being a sex slave.
@Joeinblack
I desperately needed to mow the lawn because it was quite long, and I don't want my husband to feel like he needs to work when he should be resting and enjoying his home and family. So, there I am, putting a toddler in his car seat, and it looks and feels like rain is coming. ...
@Joeinblack
I prayed for Pearl at mass this morning. May the Lord pour out an abundance of grace on her and heal any wounds she may have.
I hope to be celebrating her deep and radical conversion and special devotion to Our Lady very soon.
@shanianottwain2
Well... I'm going to keep doing it for my husband anyway.
Dressing to incite a reaction from the man you're married to is about the same as your husband buying you flowers.
But dressing in a way that one could reasonably assume may cause another to sin is definitely immodest.

My incredible, wonderful, super lovely brewer husband made me hop water, non-alcoholic carbonated water flavored with hops! I am quite smitten and incredibly impressed at how good it turned out.
Thank you, Lord, for my husband and for another day sober!
But Oh! Did the feminists cry? The crime of promoting that nasty, vile sickness known as femininity is an unforgivable sin on its own, but coupled with a promotion of the nuclear family (a crime against the Marxist roots of feminism), that is truly egregious. ...
Remember. You are not a soul driving a meat vehicle. The idea that you are is not new at all. The idea that material existence is an illusion or even a prison is an extremely old idea but a false one.
You are incredible, and that includes the part of you that is a physical body.
You know, there's really nothing quite like having finally allowed God to get me past disorder desires and porn use after years of struggling in my youth only to be assaulted daily by porn bots wielding nudes on an app I use to talk to people about Jesus.
Lord, help us.
@BreeSolstad
I was just planning our school year schedule and marking all the feasts, solemnities, memorials, and liturgical colors on our calendar. I'll be supplementing lessons that coincide with the liturgical year as we learn throughout the year.
@tallowmom
A lot of these people know an awful lot about her past and where to find photos like this...
Maybe, and I'm just spitballing here, we all repent of our own disordered desires before we start posting lewd photos on the internet to shame others.
@political_ellie
As Trent put it, it's a sort of reverse simping.
I've been saying for a while that everything Pearl says makes total sense when you realize she is acting as the gender bent version of the stereotypical male-feminist white knight.
Our society is in desperate need of depornification.
It's kind of ridiculous trying to shop for undergarments or sleepwear as a woman, and every model looks like they were hired for a smut shoot that decided to kill two birds with one stone and sell some socks also. Good grief.
These are the paintings I've finished since my reversion. God guided my hand on every one of them. Thanks be to God.🧵
Which one do you like best?
"The Mother and Mercy" Murph Johnson (2022) Acrylic on canvas.
@VudatNation
Oh, good grief. Lord, have mercy on us!
God bless you, Father. You didn't say anything wrong.
As a woman, a wife, and a mother, we shouldn't be so ready to shriek and gnash our teeth at the very thought that we should (because we should) put our husband's before ourselves.
@ninasmurphy
That is true. Even one drink is dyhratingbut, but one drink has an odd way of becoming twelve for me.
I definitely feel a million times better living sober. Thank God.
@HippieReligious
@Trent_Horn
My husband walked into the kitchen while I was watching it and said, "Why is she smiling and laughing every time she says something? It's pretentious."
Yes. Yes, it is.
@MwMword7
@complicitclergy
Hey, I'm praying for yall. The media did a horrible job covering this story and started a ton of rumors by posting clearly biased articles with click bait headlines.
God bless the parish of St Thomas Aquinas and Fr. Fidel.
@nicholelizaq
A friend confided in me one night that he and an ex-girlfriend had an abortion several years ago. He told me how they had been so in love before, but it slowly ripped them apart and how he still wakes up and cries alone in his bed most nights. Then he said he's still pro-choice.
I'm turning 32 next month, and I'm already mentally and spiritually exhausted by the world. People older than me, tell me there's a second wind.
Feeling like: Jesus, please give us more time cause we still have a lot of souls who need saving, but also... can You come back now.
@Joeinblack
It seems to me that by this logic, we would also determine that non-Catholics, young children, and those unworthy to receive the Blessed Sacrament shouldn't attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, because it's like eating infront of a starving person. Which is obviously incorrect.
I stopped saying "hell yeah" and "hell yes."
Not because there is anything wrong with saying hell (it's a reality, not a "naughty word"). Rather, it was because I realized I didn't want to say yes to hell, and I didn't want to make hell a part of my positive expressions.
@RenattaOxendine
@MrCasey62
You are correct. Catholics do not believe that Christ is recrucified at mass. Rather, we believe that through God's power and grace, we participate in our Beloved Lord's one sacrifice on the cross.
I decided to quit drinking entirely; it's been seven days.
I've gone longer without drinking many times, but it's surprising the temptation and mind tricks that come after deciding to completely remove something from your life.
I tend to think I'm tough until I feel really awful; then I just want my husband to come home and sit with me and pat my head. Yet, there is still laundry to wash and kids to feed. So, despite how I feel, even if that's like a big baby, someone has to be the mom.
Pray for me.
@CatholicAwesome
Lord, You know us better than anyone, better than we know ourselves. You see our hearts and all the ways they are broken. Please, Lord, help us and heal our broken hearts. Thank you for being patient with us as we clumsily stumble toward you.
Lord Jesus, bless this young family.
I've come a long way from the person I was before I met Christ, of course by His doing not mine. I've been shocked to discover that every sin He has pulled me out of I once thought wasn't a sin at all.
@Jerod_Frank
@potentialtheism
I tend to be overly analytical and enjoy philosophy and ethics. Maybe that makes me weird. Anyway, the answer is rape. In the case of masterbation, the abused and the abuser are one in the same, but in the vile act of rape two individual souls are deeply harmed rather than one.
Every Catholic man should consider joining the Knight of Columbus. Ever Knight should consider getting more involved. We really need strong men engaged in our parishes right now. You have a huge role to play, and we need you.
God bless you and thank God for you.
@RussNRoses
There was a time not so long ago that I didn't believe in God, and there was absolutely zero chance you'd catch me trying to own the theists.
So now, when I am confronted with a rabid atheist, I just assume he's mad at his dad or some other variant of adolescent angst.
@campusevangel
@EricRSammons
I disagree with Mr. Sammons from time to time, but I have back him up on this one. There's absolutely no reason he should be shamed for an incredibly innocuous post.
"The world is being painted in a coat of dark red,
Stained with the blood of the innocent d3ad.
Our hatred can't be justified because k1lling ourselves is just su1cide.
United, we stand. United, we fall.
Ignoring these truths won't do us any good at all."
... that since God has created so many wonderful creatures here on earth, it isn't absurd to consider all the splendor that awaits in the purely spiritual existence we hope to enjoy after bodily death.
What sort of lovely spiritual beings exist that are just splendid as cats?
@TheMistressB
In bouts of spiritual dryness, when it's been difficult to go on, the thing that has always kept me going is knowing exactly what He saved me from. I was in a low place, a dark place with one foot already in hell, yet He came and found me there.
I will follow wherever He leads.
@irumyuui
It is extremely important that we remember to spend more time examining our own conscience and less time speculating on the motivations of others.
"Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?" - Matthew 7:3
@FranciKing15848
Not everyone is an alcoholic, but for alcoholics there is no moderation.
I tried moderation for years. It feels like walking a tight rope over bottomless pit. I always ended up trapped again. I woke up in the middle of the night saying, "God, I hate alcohol! Why do I do this?"
The attack on the family seems to have budded into an all-out spiritual (and consequently ideological) war.
There are multiple fronts on both sides of the political spectrum.
Be wary of anyone who says that the solution to any problem is the dissolution of marriage or family.
@Joeinblack
@canonlaw
Maybe I am wrong for thinking this, but maybe we shouldn't get upset about waiting while eight people get right with Jesus.
In my admittedly limited knowledge, it seems impatience usually stems from pride. I know this because I am often impatient and prideful.
@RussNRoses
I attend the Novus Ordo. There are probably five-ten of us at each mass at our patish, but it seems to be growing. I've noticed a lot more mantillas around. Some communities have more than others. My sister says that at her parish, almost every woman veils. It's also Novus Ordo.
