H. S. Thompson is named in honor of Henry Stewart Thompson, a distinguished African American educator in Dallas. He dedicated his life to advancing education during a time when segregation and systemic barriers limited opportunities for African American teachers and students.

Teachers can encourage better habits of comprehension monitoring during reading/listening by asking students to pay attention and react if the text is not making sense. Ideas: thumbs up/down, ask questions, patience, clarification, stop sign support and think aloud LETRS U7S2

Why do we train teachers? Research says that TEACHERS are the most important variable in reading outcomes. We are so glad @BuDhaGirl agrees! As an incentive for attendance, they will provide a set of their bangles for each teacher who has 90% attendance or better this semester.
