@melissa @jposhaughnessy response got my attention and your notes are excellent. I read this book years ago and wasn’t impressed. Now, as a runner who’s writing (or a writer who runs?), I’m intrigued enough to pull it back off the shelf. Thanks!

@Long_Brown_Path Nice! I went 4:54 for the mile at age 50. Don’t remember splits but there was a day… 🤣

@KhazeDUB @StevenQuartz Maybe it’s sport specific? e.g., - I did @RAAMRaces and friends always ask “didn’t your butt get sore??” Not at all - as I’d trained accordingly. Agree that hours and hours of daily running could have downside, but 50 mi/wk not extreme?

@KhazeDUB @StevenQuartz Why "ruinous" Ken? (genuinely curious). Certainly if doing so on a bad wheel or if body not absorbing (e.g., AM HRV trends). But wouldn't mileage - like most things - be individualized? Context: I'm 60 next yr & current wkly rhythm: 4 runs (~45 mi), 1 bike, 3 strength sessions

@DrAndyGalpin Solid Andy. Thank you. Was this a typo under the sleep section? “Can reduce fat loss by 55%”

@poetwithpace @B_Holmer You’ve clearly got a rhythm that’s working well for you @poetwithpace - love it! This article digs into some of ways I’m shifting the algorithm-

@poetwithpace @B_Holmer Good question and I think the answer will come with time. A number (age) isn’t a “reason” to reduce but other things may (injuries, slow recovery). I check AM HRV daily to be sure body absorbing well. Only run 4 days/wk. Bike is recovery. So far so good!
