Getting reports of CatalogScanner responses not showing up, sorry for the difficulties, it seems like Twitter is marking the bot's tweets as spam. Let me know if you're having issues, otherwise, liking the tweets for the bot may help show Twitter it's not spam.
Wow! it seems like we hit the 1000 tweet per day limit on the API. Unfortunately I will have to turn off the bot for tonight, maybe put some better rate limiting tomorrow... Sorry for the inconvenience.
We've crossed 3,000 followers and over 30,000 catalogs scanned. Pretty cool for a little lockdown hobby project! Let me know what you would like to see next from
@CatalogScanner
Happy to announce Critterpedia support. Test it out and let me know if you run into any issues! Just make sure you are in List Mode (not Display Mode). See the tweet below for an example:
Note that this is a free (and open source) service I run, provide support and pay for on my own. While it isn't necessary for using the bot, any donations are always highly appreciated :)
Looks like
@CatalogScanner
is no longer shadowbanned. To celebrate, happy to announce music list scanning! Check the example below and read the full instructions on the website. Checking for missing songs is also supported.
The bot now supports scanning DIYs! Simply record a video scrolling through your list of recipes (works better with slow scrolling/left joystick), trim the video, and tweet it by tagging
@CatalogScanner
to have it automatically parsed! Example:
In case the instruction above are a bit confusing, here is what your final video should look like. Note the speed of the scrolling and the start/end trim. Extra hashtags don't matter, but you can use certain tags to control features on the bot.
Added support for 1.5.0 content. For the collectors, there are now 2 new reactions (46 total) and 14 new recipes (622 total). There are no new critters or songs. Happy catalog scanning!
A little delayed, but just added the new items for the 1.6.0 update. There are 9 new reactions (55 total) and 13 new recipes (635 total). No new music or critters. Merry scanning!
Did you know that the code for CatalogScanner is open source? It's all written in clean and well commented Python, using OpenCV and Tesseract. Feel free to play around or use it as a learning tool!
Small new feature added today: "missing" lists now have their own list url that can be imported into any app that supports
@CatalogScanner
(Note that missing lists are still limited to Recipes, Critters, Reactions and Music.)
Sorry for the delay, but the new items from 1.7.0 are finally supported! There are 4 new reactions (59 total) and 2 new recipes (637 total). No new music or critters. Happy scanning!
Looks like the bot is once again shadowbanned. Until I find a fix, you may have to go to
@CatalogScanner
profile and look for your reply under "Tweets & Replies" section.
In the meantime, if you're not seeing the reply, the best solution I've found is to explicitly go to the bot's profile and look at "tweets & replies", your response should be there:

Downloading the file can be a bit tricky. You can try the new "send to smartphone" button on Switch, or still send it to Twitter and download it using

Video is too long (25s max). Make sure you hold down the analog stick, and trim the video. Use the left analog stick for DIY videos and right analog stick for Catalogs.
In case the instruction above are a bit confusing, here is what your final video should look like. Note the speed of the scrolling and the start/end trim. Extra hashtags don't matter, but you can use certain tags to control features on the bot.

@j__eng
By "recipes", do you mean "Can Craft" section? If so, when importing your DIYs, at the bottom click "Bulk Actions" and then "Set every craftable item to Can Craft". Then they should all show up in that section.
@lydocia
Currently it takes roughly 5m and you should receive a reply to your tweet with a link to the item list. Working on speeding it up while staying within Twitter limits!

I actually have the video on my server. I see it is indeed missing that last single card at the end. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll try to come up with something tomorrow!
