@Luv_Viktor Some serious crap happened when Jayce was in the hexcore. I'm guessing he found out that all of Viktor's "gifts" were something akin the void trying to invade our dimension, and we'll get a flashback of the messed up eldrich journey that brought him to this point.

@nanauzumakiii Are you expecting every single side character to have a fully developed arc? Sure they weren't the most substantial but they were fine,. Maddie was a good foil to Vi/Cait's romance *and* a counterpoint to Ambessa's ambition. Loris was there for Vi at her lowest.

note for ppl taking this literally: I know the hexcore is supposed to be possessing him;. I hate it. I hate that they took away his agency. He had enough reasons from s1 to oppose piltover, to act on his own character and ideals and actions, but instead he was possessed by a BALL.

@FortuneTuneTuna they made him a spooky representation of alien forces instead of the foil to piltover he could have been. he had genuine points in s1, they were weaponizing against zaun/the downtrodden and everything was leading up to him taking it into his OWN hands.

@hellbuoyant He's written to be flawed & inexperienced despite being well-meaning, to have come from a place of privilege and has an underlying egotistical streak in the making. I think he's brilliantly written as a realistic & very human character.

#arcane Viktor in s1 was compelling because he had REASONS to be angry, to break away from Jayce and pursue other methods of helping people that would lead him down a darker path. Itwasn't just "ohh free will is an illusion jayce, join my hivemind!" #notmymachineherald.

@HANCXCK If he didn't LIKE the character thousands of us adored and loved for over a decade, why choose him to write?. During S1 I think it was said that Arcane was supposed to be a love-letter to league champs- so this guy just decided he didn't like ours and replaced him completely. .

Season 1 was leading towards that, for him to take his own reigns against piltover, but instead he was possessed by an alien ball.

@meowwheeler It definitely felt like he was very out of touch and distant during this scene, as if in a haze or trance. I feel like the hexcore has been peeling away at his conviction for some time.

@Laeyrr_ what's worse is s1 was genuinely setting us up to get that version of him, building up his valid reasons & motivations to hate piltover.I was so excited to see that arc fulfilled and have a genuinely thought provoking conflict and it just didn't happen.

From the character who made me confident to walk with a cane and stand up for myself, . to a confused bad guy who needs to be saved/defeated. Robbed of his agency and his potential conflict with Piltover set up in season 1. A waste of a wonderful character.
