For some reason I always thought this flashback took place at the Gojo estate. I think the fact Megumi's wearing a tie means this flashback is from before the story started(Megumi's uniform doesn't have a tie, so I think it's the middle school uniform sans blazer)

I think meeting Shoko awakened something terrible in Megumi. He always takes bad hits on missions and I think it's because he learned at a young age there would always be someone to heal him, so his body's expendable compared to others

Megumi's domain(pre-shell) is designed far more similarly to Sukuna's(Gege even posed them the same! Again!) and Kenjaku's open domains rather than a closed domains like Gojo's
I found the panel that made Kusakabe's line so weird to me. In 168 Megumi laments that he can't close his barrier and trap his opponents, he never says he can't use DE with no shell. Notice how the structure vanishes once he adds the foreign shell? He got so close to divinity😭😭

Things are extremely bleak from Megumi's POV.
Tsumiki dies, Gojo returns but doesn't even attempt to help him, he spends a month alone with Sukuna, Gojo returns AGAIN and dies within an hour, Kashimo and Higuruma get chopped to pieces, and now Yuuta&Yuji are just BARELY surviving

Gege likes making Sukuna use old man Japanese and hydrangea's kanji would clear up any archaic readings, so him calling it "ajisai" may mean he really did learn the name from Megumi

I like all of the theories about Yuji getting a special cursed tool instead of a CT because it really flips the narrative of what makes a strong sorcerer. Naoya established that using weaponry rather than relying on a CT is looked down upon
