Talk the physical accolades all you want, but Wemby's mentals might be his biggest asset given how things are going for the Spurs these days...
The Wembanyama Effect is real.
Over 3,000 new Spurs season ticket holders turned out for "Select-A-Seat Saturday" at the AT&T Center, getting an in-person selection and view of their new seat for 2023-2024.

About what you'd expect from Pop after the Spurs' 123-87 mess in OKC tonight ⬇️⬇️⬇️
This is FANTASTIC. Before his big double in his first career AB tonight, LSU pitcher Todd Peterson had Paul Mainieri sold he could hit. Turns out, and to the surprise of Mainieri, he didn't even get an at-bat in HS (video assist:

Three of the Spurs' group games are nationally-televised:
11/10 vs Timberwolves
11/14 at OKC (TNT)
11/17 vs Kings (ESPN)
11/24 at Warriors (ESPN)
The Spurs had three nationally-televised games over the last three years COMBINED.

Favorite part of Spurs Media Day today:
No more than 10 seconds before this, Wemby launched a shot. Every TV camera from here to Paris was set up next to it. He misses, he's probably jeopardizing $500K+ worth of TV equipment.
Naturally, he splashed it. Didn't even hit rim.
Obviously, the immediate assumption about Primo is that it’s something really, really bad off the court.
Maybe the guy just didn’t wanna play anymore and left…

My take on the Spurs tank talk:
It’s impossible to tell any team to tank, let alone a group of young, overachieving and entirely unproven players. It’s a lost argument from the start.
So…sit back and enjoy it. The Spurs aren’t in a bad place whatever happens.

Victor Wembanyama took to the podium last night after the Spurs' 76-68 win over the Hornets.
Wemby candidly evaluates the good, the bad and what can get better following his NBA Summer League debut in Las Vegas and what it means to wear the San Antonio jersey.

Should Kawhi still be vilified? No.
But, fans haven’t had much to cheer for in weeks. They’re watching their team about to lose yet again. They’re booing, not tossing objects or saying hateful stuff.
You can be passionate and civil at the same time, and they were being that.
The Spurs’ season was the realistic best case scenario. Established who was worth investing in, found an all-star, played relevant basketball in April and are getting a top-10 pick, in addition to two more firsts they acquired.
Pretty good, all the way around.
Ok Spurs fans, you’ve had a night to sleep on it.
Sum up the season, tell me your hopes for what’s next, and tell me where you think the team will be in a year’s time.

Victor Wembanyama is ready to have the preseason reins loosened as the Spurs get ready to open the season against the Mavericks tomorrow in San Antonio.
Spurs have a little less than a month to sell roughly 17,000 tickets for the Alamodome game vs Golden State on 1/13 in order to break the attendance record.
They got a shot, but the Curry injury is a killer.
Listen, I know it’s Summer League. I once saw Kevin Knox be billed as the next KD because of how dominant he was.

A bit of a full-circle moment for me last night…
My first job outta college was working behind the scenes at CBS Sports Network. 11 years later, I get to cover the NBA for them.
Pretty cool how that works.
Everyone has advice for Victor Wembanyama's incoming spotlight, even Hall of Fame QB Terry Bradshaw (of all people!)
