@CarloZambo57733 Many peaks below 3000ft are just as good as Munros, and can be tougher because paths are less well defined There’s nothing magic about the 3000ft contour!

@PhysInHistory I first came across Euler’s Identity when studying Mathematics at school and was struck by its beauty, but only very recently came across two other similarly beautiful identities, thanks to @ZahlenRMD

@CarloZambo57733 Not quite ready to go live with this yet, but here is a preview of my dynamically created #VirtualMunroBagging/#MountainToponymy page for Ben Lomond Still a few bugs to fix and enhancements to make before I go live with it. What do you think?

@SketchyWelsh Also, people who don't speak Welsh are most likely to come across 'brith' in 'bara brith' - speckled bread

@CarloZambo57733 The SMC produce the definitive list of Munros which they occasionally revise and everyone else accepts They last updated the list in December 2020 and there are currently 282 Munros

@CarloZambo57733 I think you might have got the wrong Munro here, Carlo. The guy who produced the mountain tables was Sir Hugh Thomas Munro. I don’t think that he was a military man

@CarloZambo57733 So do I. There’s no comparison. Height isn’t everything! Wainwright described Blencathra as a mountaineer’s mountain Blencathra - Summit of the Chair #MountainToponymy Another Cumbric (Celtic) derivation

@CarloZambo57733 Skiddaw - Hill with a Juttting Crag #MountainToponymy This, in my opinion, is the most likely (Viking) interpretation, but there are a number of other possibilities, including a Celtic one See:

@CarloZambo57733 I wouldn’t want to carry a metal tea urn down from Helvellyn in an electrical storm!

@CarloZambo57733 Helvellyn is one of a number of English mountains with a Welsh-like name Helvellyn - Yellow Moorland or possibly Hunting (or Gathering) Ground by the Lake #MountainToponymy
