47+ years in IT. Now retired and living a life of volunteer service through Lions International

Recently, the Middle Tennessee Lions Sight Service (MTLSS) gave Jerry Baker, a member of the Nolensville Lions Club, a Merlin Pro Elite. Jerry had been using a broken closed-circuit television (CCTV) for his low vision needs for years. Our Executive Director, Dianne Corlew, delivered the Merlin Pro Elite to a very excited Jerry. The Merlin Pro Elite changes the colors of the background and print to adjust to what works best for the person. Jerry sees best with the black background and white lettering. You place what you desire to read on the base. Then, it magnifies to whatever size is needed. Then, you slide the base to read the page across. This machine is a state-of-the-art machine. It has text-to-talk capabilities. You place your full document on the base. Press the button, give it a minute to process, and then it will read the text while highlighting the word being said. For Jerry, this machine is life-changing. The Merlin Pro Elite device was gifted to MTLSS by a lady in Manchester, TN, whose husband used it briefly before his passing. @lionsclubs

In my retirement, I volunteer extensively for @lionsclubs and Lions-related organizations. One such organization is the Middle Tennessee Lions Sight Service, which helps people in Middle Tennessee who need assistance with cataract surgery. Here is their latest update. The Middle Tennessee Lions Sight Service (MTLSS) Application Review Committee approved a cataract surgery evaluation on a 43-year-old gentleman. He has a chronic illness that prohibits him from working a hard labor job. He wants to have cataract surgery done so that he will be able to see. He does want to work but needs his vision. He will then be looking for a work-from-home position. MTLSS is excited to help him with his vision.

@selgan Nope. I bought it when I thought my job would last another five years. Now that I’m retired and doing stuff for @lionsclubs, I use it to create presentations
